I have mixed feelings about these. They look handy and small, and from a known brand, but they still look like a cheap quadcopter battery with a switching board and general use LED integrated in a 3D printed housing, so the price seems quite a bit high.
But many reviews saying they don't break easy so that's a plus?
Good idea, and works for a few months but breaks easily. After a while it won't turn on and you can't charge it regardless of how long you plug it into a USB socket or power adapter. The button breaks easily if you carry it in your pocket. Good idea, okay design, poor longevity.
If one day you unplug the USB cable from your nitecore and the blue charge light stays lit for some reason, don't panic. Just leave it plugged into the USB and the light with eventually go off. (the on/off button won't work)
I've had this happen twice now. Not sure if feature or BUG.
These things are great. I've bought multiple 3-packs, and give them out to nieces and nephews, who love them.
Great little light, the kids use them all the time on a lanyard for camping, camps, sleepovers, chasing crabs on the beach, etc.
Reliable, in the 18 that I've ordered, no complaints or known issues.
Recommended!
Love this little light. A friend of mine got the three pack and gave the other two to myself and another friend. We all keep them on us at all times and none of them have gone bad yet.
I ordered three of these a long time ago - I'm pretty sure I've had them over a year now. I gave two away and ordered three more - two as gifts and one more for a backup. With the two I've retained, I've only had accidental activation once or twice, while they've held up well to repeat usage. I don't leave them charging overnight, so I haven't had any concerns with overcharge, as they charge at my desk at work.
For utility they are fantastic. There have been several times where my main EDC flash (the brass Massdrop/Lumintop flashlight often seen) has been left at home, and with one of these on the keychain, I'm never without light when I need it. Sufficiently bright on high, just a tad too bright on low (for theater navigation), overall I'd say my experience with these has been solid. The only TUBE no longer in service was in a friend's +20 MPH cycling crash. It still worked, but the rubber button was sheared off, along with a portion of his jersey pocket.
Heed the words of warning from those who've experienced issues, but know these aren't causing everyone trouble.
I had good luck with mine for a few months, then it failed to work. LED would show charging, but would never light. Maybe my order was not such a good idea.
A couple of people here recommending not to overcharge. However, on the product page it says this keychain flashlight has overcharge protection. Isn't this feature working?
