Product Description
A new IEM from Ostry, the maker of the highly regarded KC06 and KC06A, the KC09 delivers neutral sound and handsome aesthetics. It features a single 10-millimeter dynamic driver inside a housing made of hand-polished Seiko titanium and leather: an uncommon combination of materials in a universal IEM of this price Read More
Just as a feedback to producer, these are the ugliest earphones I've seen, leather on an iem isn't looking good and has no practical reason to be there.
perisantavsanIf it's not just covering flat titanium, then it's purpose could very well be used to take advantage of the unique properties of leather: firm yet flexible; potentially complementing acoustic vibration.
What headphones have you designed? Are you a material scientist?
The Ex5's aren't as heavy than the Kings but much heavier than my SE215, which I don't particularly mind. Do you have any input on the SQ of the KC09's? Like the bass/mids/highs?
Erak606 This is the first I've noticed the KC09's, and wasn't really in the market for another pair of headphones. Am attempting to cancel/return an unnecessary Amazon (Amp) order to fit it into the budget.
The KC06A's are potentially the best IEM's I've owned, which previously I would of said my favorites were the headphones included with the Sony NWZ-S738F mp3 player (2008) and I can't compare the two now.

With a Fiio E17K paired with the KC06A's, I sometimes scale the treble back a few steps. But back in the day I would use a Sandisk Sansa E280 with an inverted equalizer (e.g. like a batman joker-smile), with the bass close to 0/+1, with most other frequencies below 0, and the tail near 0/+1.
I would use a similar EQ inverted-smile setup on a Xiaomi Redmi 3s Pro Prime phone within the last few years, but my current music device's sound-chip (Motorola X-Force) doesn't support that.
I always preferred Sony's Mega-Bass (tm).
I prefer music like Tom Cochrane, John Newman, Apocolyptica, Calvin Harris, Kongos, Lorde, M83, Ella Eyre, Megadeath

I'm not going to comment on Mid/Lows/Highs/Bass/whatever, when I hear ppl talking about that, it sounds like pretentious bullshit to me -- sorry :-)
Additional Caveat, am not interested in paying hundred's for IEM's for marginal acoustic improvements, and find most Over-the-Ear studio headphones more fatiguing than IEM's - hurts my outer ear, and pressure on my skull after not many hours.
Lately I've switched to surrounding myself with speakers of mid-level cost, like these, (when I can)

-- was able to setup my backyard-office speaker system on Dec.20th, Sounds F'n Great :-) Now to hook up a sub-woofer.
Addenum:
Well I'm sure the audiophiles would shoot me... but I'm using a discontinued 20W Comiso tube speaker as a sub-woofer hehehe.

These are very nice. Slightly warm, but clear highs and mids, a little bit more bass than 'neutral' without overdoing it. Smooth. Comfortable to wear as well. These are a great buy for sub-$100 iems imo.
Just FYI, here's a nice review of this IEM. (The post is in Japanese, but you might be able to make something out of it with google translate etc.) In any case, there are some nice pics in there!

How are these compare to 1more triple drivers? i was told that 1more is one of the best and here i reading this should be th best... Grrr decisions decisions
If anyone having a bit of comfort issue with this pair, apparently theres like few mm gap that will cause the eartip to slide around since the nozzle is so long, and will cause fitting issue. What i did was cutting a small ring (around 2mm thick) from extra eartip im not using to fill this gap. Havent had any comfort issue since.
Received mine yesterday; look fine, sound fine; plenty of reasonably tight lows, very nice body/mids/.... good, warm high end without getting spiky/irritating (thank you). I'll have to break them in some more, and then play with the different tuning tips. Overall initial impressions: very good, good value, and a happy customer.
So, I really like the HiFiMan RE400's sound signature, and it's my daily IEMs. Are these similar? If not, how do they compare? I don't see that many reviews that reliable talk about their sound signature.
