Three years ago, audio company Questyle set out to make a digital audio player that brought the hi-fi listening experience of a home-based system into a portable package. The result is the QP1, a player that stands out for its fantastic build quality, Class-A amplifier, and high storage capacity via dual card slots. Complete with CirrusLogic CS4398 DAC chips and Questyle’s patented Current Mode Amplification, it supports DSD128 and 24bit/192kHz PCM files, and is capable of powering both full-size high-impedance headphones and low-impedance in-ear monitors with ease.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of colors for the player between Gold and Space Gray. Add a Leather Case (+ $50) in Black, Gold, or Gray, or a Belt Holster (+ $15) in Black. This drop is limited to 30 units. This drop is limited to members in the United States and Canada.
Made from machined aluminum with beveled edges, a matte finish, and tough, damage-resistant Gorilla Glass on the front and back panels, the Questyle QP1 looks as smart as it sounds. The top panel is home to two 3.5-millimeter outputs (one headphone and one line out), along with a half-inch-tall volume knob and a protective crown that minimizes inadvertent volume changes when you’re carrying your player in a pocket. The steering wheel-style menu control should be familiar to users of the iPod Classic, and provides quick scrolling and track selection with a satisfying click.
The QP1 has 16 gigabytes of internal storage, and should you want to bring your whole music collection along, also has two micro-SD slots that support up to 200 gigabytes apiece—for a maximum onboard storage capacity of 416 gigabytes. Between the slots, you’ll find a universal micro-USB jack for charging your device (which you can do even as you continue listening). A 3300mAh battery provides 10 hours of play time between charges.
