Wow I was going to pass on the EMP thinking that it was going to be too big for me but if it's the same length as the g502 thats about the length of my hand. Love the g502 but one of my gripes was that it wasn't wide enough for my palm, so this is perfect. Thank you for the awesome info and helping make an educated decision.
I just got my Roccat Tyon today. I checked the serial number on the Roccat site here:
https://www.roccat.org/en-US/Support/Authenticity-Check/
It failed the authenticity check. What's up with that?
UPDATE: They had some database problems.
hyperlinkedOk, apparently, their serial number database was offline and all checks were coming back failed. I just checked and my serial number was valid... not that I had any serious doubts.
All the KONE-type mice have the same structural build problem with the click sensors getting pushed down to cause errant double clicks. This cant be fixed without opening up the mice (breaking warranety), and theres lots of Horror stores about Roccat support to get it fixed. FUNDAMENTAL BUILD PROBLEM NEVER RESOLVED
Ive only had my roccat KONE XTD for about a year with light use, and its already has this issue.
BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID.
larsinioI'v been using a kone pure optical for about 2 years now and I never encountered that problem (or any other). I'm a pretty hardcore gamer to point of installing things like povohat's mouse accel capture driver... mice get abused by me, and I'm over-the-top picky about them. I'v used about a dozen gaming mice, razer, A4tech, zowie, logitech etc... roccats are by far the highest build quality in my experience. After 2 years my pure optical shows some superficial signs of wear like getting shiny at places, but mechanically/technically it works 100% the same as when it was brand new.
I have two Nyth mice and love them. There are official linux software builds for all the tools (lights and configs) in the roccat github, was the reason i made my first purchase. I updated the firmware on windows. I put in mostly double wide buttons for the side pad and leave a few blanks to make picking up the mouse easy. Try out the shapes like said below. I returned a Kova due to shape/size. The other styles are great. I have large hands.
Edit: fixed mouse name
The Roccat Tyon, IMO is the greatest mouse ever made. I own two of them for both of my rigs. That being said, I would caution any potential buyers as ROCCAT no longer supports the Tyon. The last update was in Feb 2016. The only solution if anything happens is to RMA.
Edit: Good news friends, ROCCAT finally released an update for the Tyon Driver software in November of last year. I have only tried on my first rig, but I'm finally able to get the Tyon Driver software to actually work.
I picked up the Leadr from this drop - it's basically a wireless Tyon. I love the layout and particularly the thumb paddle but it's sooo heavy. I use a KPOE as my main mice and the leadr weighs almost twice as much. Trying to decide now if I crack it open and see if I can get it to run wired with no batterym, though it'll still be veryu heavy even then.
FreqoutThe Tyon is my favorite mouse. I love that thing, but I have the same issue with it as you do. I'd like it to be just a little bit lighter and a little bit smaller so that it'll work better for those of us who use hybrid grips. It's hard to use a fingertip grip with precision on a Tyon.
indigouzWait for the price to go down when more people join the drop. Believe it or not, Massdrop needs ways to drop the prices on items. They're not made of money.
Has anyone here used the Nyth before? I haven't been able to find a comfortable MMO mouse since the old Razer Naga with the changeable side grips, and I have been toying with getting one of these. All of the other MMO mouse I have tried are just too wide for my hand, and this one seems like it may resemble the shape of the older Naga with the different grips.
MeanBeansI have a Nyth and I love it for MMO type stuff. U used for FPS games as well for a while but it's a bit on the heavy side. That said, the configurable button setup is pretty amazing.
FreqoutI ended up getting one and I only use it for MMOs. It remindes me a lot, size-wise, of the older Naga with the interchangeable grips, but it is super heavy. Cannot use it for any games that require fast movements, such as FPS's. But I did really buy it specifically for MMOs, so not too much of an issue.
Only problem I have had is I have to unplug and plug it back in every few weeks because the sensor malfunctions.
Coincidentally, my cat just knocked my KPM hard onto the tile floor and now the + button is flaky. Anyone care to comment on how these newer models compare? On the KPM I run at max resolution (5000 dpi) on my WQXGA monitor, using MarkC's thing to disable all Windows acceleration. I'm a fingertip gripper so have never been able to get much use out of extra buttons.
I've still got a Ninox Aurora sitting in a box on a shelf too from a drop years ago, may be time to finally transplant that into a WMO and try it out...
Right after Cytek Cyborg's mices' usability, loads of buttons, functions and ergonomics, Roccat looks like their rightful heir! I have used R.A.T. 7 for five years until the right click sensor started sticking and it was not an easy choice to find a mouse that will be able to take it's place. The Roccat Tyon i now own is doing it's job excellently, it has more functionalities than a gamer needs, plus it is not overpriced as Razer or other. WP Roccat, you are really making a gamer happy again :-D
