Have this set--same manufacturer under a different label (if you order a few hundred sets, they'll put your name on the label too).
First point: there is absolutely nothing special about these clippers; they don't work any better than any other brand you've used in the past.
Second point: you're not really going to use that travel case or the box it comes in--you're just going to pay for them.
Final point: You don't need a pair of NASA-Grade nail clippers, there is no such thing as heirloom-grade clippers, all clippers work and the cheap ones sold in the cosmetics department at Walmart do exactly the same thing these do, just as well.
All that said, if you are going to fall for the marketing hype of this brand, don't pay more than you have to:
BrainFlushHow can cost be irrelevant when the whole premise of my first comment was about the ridiculously high margins of these clippers? R&D can vary greatly depending on the product. R&D for a pharmaceutical drug would be completely different from "R&D" for a nail clipper.
I'm not "clipping words," I called you out on your strawman. Something isn't true just because you said so.
Just got mine from this latest drop and was surprised at how rough the finish is on them. With the fingernail clippers it’s just a matter of aesthetics...looks cheap, not solid and smooth like the ones in the photo...but with the toenail clippers it is more than simply an assault to the aesthetics, there are two wickedly sharp metallic splinters trapped where the leveraging pin anchors to the underside of the clippers. The two metallic burrs are about 3 mm long and razor sharp. I can bend them back and forth but can’t dislodge them. I think they are metal shavings still attached to the body of the clippers where they ground out the hole to run the pin attaching the leverage arm. So disappointed. I bought four sets of these based on all the glowing reviews—one for myself and three for gifts for family. If the other three look like my set, I’d be embarrassed to give them as gifts. :(

First 2 photos show the metal shavings still attached to the backside and interior of the toenail clippers. 3rd photo show the metal filings I was able to pry loose from the clippers. There ended up being a third metal shard that I couldn’t pry out. I just pressed it back in around the post so it wouldn’t be scratching me when I handle the clippers.

(The finish on my clippers almost looks like the silver is painted on the way the surface is bumpy and pocked. It does not at all look like the clean smooth surface of the clippers in the photos in the drop. Mine look poorly made.) I wonder if Seki dumped a batch of “seconds” on Mass Drop?
Firstly, I've had the fingernail clipper for years (bought for $15 on Amazon, where it's still available at that price) and it's a great clipper and worth every penny.
Secondly, this is not a good deal. The fingernail clipper is available on Amazon for $15 and the toenail clipper for $19 and the set with the case for $35.
Guess who found out the exact steel used?
ME!
You can finally have that info since people have been asking for it and only guessing.
Don't get me wrong, the steel is solid, but knowing it exactly, priceless.
Posted up top and on the other drop.
I purchased this set from MD several months ago based on the Seki reputation for making very high quality grooming tools and medical instruments. EXTREMELY sharp and well made, you will not be disappointed and will have this set for a very long time. Well worth the $$$!
rayce444Upgrading your clippers is one of those things that you don't think about much, but it can make a huge difference. There's no going back, really.
If you have not jumped on board on this drop you're missing out, this clippers are definitely the best, if you're in need of a super nice gift for the holidays for someone that appreciates high quality products this is the drop, plus this is the lowest price I have seen for this kit.
Whenever there is a sale here or on some other site, everyone goes to Amazon to check prices and read reviews. Amazon pricing algorithms automatically adjust prices up and down depending on how much attention an item gets , whether people are buying it or just adding to their wish lists.
Figured I'd say my piece after using these for a couple months now. If there were a list of "things I wish I'd bought years ago", this would be right at the top. Shit's sick, yo.
VigrithThis. I was going to post another update but why should I.
If you are cutting your nails with anything less than this set, you're not cutting your nails, your annoying them.
Only one thing can make these even better. Adding a flat head clipper. I like the curve for certain cuts but I need flat for special work.
MD please convince them to design a flat version. You have the power because we are your army.
