Folks scoffing at the price appear unfamiliar with the accustomed cost for these sorts/levels of units. Relatively, not excessive $. Absolutely? Yes, absolutely!
I own this unit, it's sound is far beyond my Ibasso DX220 with the amp8 module. I have listened to the Ibasso DX300 and M8 surpasses it in sound stage (width and height, also depth). The sound coming out of my Campfire "Goldens", Fiio FD5, Thieaudio Clairvoyance, Trn, BA15, PMV PP and many others is 3D (holographic) as the notes are are realistic, not shaped or colored. The M8 is neutral with a bit of warmth in it's presentation, notes float, strings trum and sing, highs and cymbals sound like a real performance in this wonderful black background.
It has the power to run my Beyerdynamic's (250 ohms) with absolutely no problem! This is an end game unit, a desktop masquerading as a portable! I have a friend that owns the Astell and Kern SP2000 and we compared the two, he is now ordering a M8! It's just that good.
