Product Description
When you’re on the move, you want a pair of high quality inner ear monitors that can adjust to a variety of conditions while pumping out a constant stream of stellar sound. You could take your chances with knockoffs, or you could go with a sure thing and plug in the Shure SE425 Isolating IEMs Read More
FWIW I recently got the SE215LTD from here and find their fit to be amazing, much better than any other IEM I have ever used. I often have difficulty getting a good seal because I have large ear canals and find most L size tips too small. The L tips here are just right and the shell fits perfectly within my concha.
It's the same price on sweetwater, except they offer free worldwide shipping. Not many drops are actually lower than what you would pay on other sites.
Anyone in the EU considering these, go to Thomann.de: http://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_se425cl.htm
Much cheaper, free delivery within three to seven working days. I ordered mine last Tuesday (cost ~£173 for clear); arrived today and I can't stop listening to them. Play with the tips to get the right seal (I've put a bigger foam tip on the right bud) and you'll adore them.
I'm sorry if this puts anyone off from ordering these iems
Anyway, my thoughts on these after owning them and using them daily for 2 weeks:
Awful.
Extremely sibilant. Poor bass response. Reminded me a lot of the shure srh940
I found comfort to be really good for my ears at least.
I have the same thoughts as you in respect to the 425 being just a 535 with removed drivers.
The 425 sounded so tinny
Anyway best of luck to your searches for good IEMs.
The fibass were awful. Shure 846 was really big. Same issue with the Roxannes. I just decided to get customs because I can't be bothered switching out every month anymore trying to get a slightly better fit with a different model of universals or tips.
The conversation above (discussion of how people mix up the terms MSRP and market-price) has no relevance to Taiguy stating it's $229 on amazon right now.
This is a community trying to help each other buy things more cheaply, right? It's $229 on amazon right now, + $7.50 shipping (10/24/14).
