Product Description
The SMSL M10 makes a great DAC with its dual XLR outputs, RCA output, and highly regarded AK4497 DAC chip for ultra-low distortion. It also has a built-in headphone amplifier, which delivers 340 mW out of the four-pin balanced port using the Texas Instruments TPA5120A2 amp chip Read More
what's the output impedance?
does the knob controls the volume on the analog outputs or just the headphone out?
a full set of measurements on the DAC output would be nice
I bought this about a month ago for 500. That said, I would have paid 600. It's probably the best all-in-one desktop headphone and speaker solution I've ever had.
It comes with a remote that's able to change the output with one button with volume memorization so I don't blow out headphones.
It provides sufficient power to drive anything I own (Fostex th-610, SPH9500 and Klipsch RP-160m ).
Looks damn great too. Comes with a back-lit led screen that will display your music's bit rate and depth through WASAPI or ASIO. You can even change the color of the UI from white to just about nay color.
The drivers needed for the DAC/Amp are great too. That was a big surprise to me. I didn't have any problems installing this on windows 10.
So yeah, great purchase guys.
I'm using the THX AAA 789 amp connected through balanced, with balanced HD650s when within arms reach. Sometimes I'll use the amp on the m10 so I can use the remote from a greater distance from the equipment.
For $55 more, I would expect the Monoprice Monolith Desktop Headphone Amplifier / DAC to outperform this SMSL unit. Its advantages include:
analog inputs (balanced and unbalanced)
substantially more-powerful headphone amp
Dirac Sensaround processing
Dual AKM 4493 DACs, Dual AAA-788 Modules
