The SAP-11 Headphone Amplifier from SMSL delivers impressive, nuanced power for your favorite pair of headphones or earphones—and it’ll fit right in your pocket. Built into a machined aluminum shell measuring less than four inches by two inches, this little powerhouse takes up no more space than your average wallet. On the inside, there’s a lot to love about the componentry, including the dual-chip Texas Instruments TPA6120A2 amp rated up to 700 milliamps, as well as a Japanese imported ALPS potentiometer for long-lasting functionality. What this means on the spec sheet is an astronomical 10 hertz to 100 kilohertz frequency response, less than 0.0017-percent total harmonic distortion, and up to 197 milliwatts of output power for low-impedance headphones. You’ll also find a gain toggle switch that lets you boost that output power for functionality with higher-impedance headphones, rating up to 58 milliwatts with 300-ohm cans. Plus, because there’s a 3.5-millimeter unbalanced output jack, and a 2.5-millimeter balanced output, you can choose whichever output fits your setup best.
