I have owned one of these for about 2 years. A phenomenal performer. Very clean and powerful. Will drive any headphones.
I modded mine by replacing the switching power supply with a linear regulated PSU, and upgraded the DC input cable from the PSU.
Unless the amp breaks, I don't see any reason to ever upgrade again.
Feed the output from your DAC into this and you will be in heaven.
XetnauqI owned this little amp as well. I totally agree with your said. I do want to upgrade the power supply, could I know which linear regulated PSU do you recommend for this amplifier?
XetnauqI would like to know the specific products you used for your up-grade, regarding the linear power supply & DC input cable. Links ( if allowed ) would be most helpful. Thanks
XetnauqThanks to mention that. I also have one more question want to ask: I can hear a slightly noise when I use this amp for low impedance headphones. That is the only thing I complain about. So can I kill this slightly noise if I upgrade to linear power supply for this amplifier?
YimingThe lowest impedance phones I use are 32 ohms. I've never heard hiss or hum with no signal fed and volume on max.
The whole point of a headphone amp is to drive higher impedance or insensitive phones.
The upgrades I did improved clarity, detail and dynamism, but not by a huge amount.
I suggest you get some better, high impedance headphones.
