PyceBut, let's face it, the unit looks excellent overall, even with the feet. And if you're worried about the surface it sits on, you can always place the spikes onto those discs used by speaker manufactures to protect wooden floors. That may make it look even better. But, it's the sound that will count most. Is this really a high-end DAC? If so, everything else is secondary.
PyceIm actually considering both. Who's to say which one sounds better? I haven't heard either but id wish i could A/B them at the same time. I dont like how the denafrips have introduced latency and how they need to be powered on forever to sound their best.
Turcoda_PandaIf you are true music lover and have heard real acoustic instruments playing live, you would never consider anything else but a properly executed R2R dac. So called audiophiles can bite me.
PyceI'd love a Denafrips, but they do color the sound in their own way. I heard the Pontus takes a more laid back and slightly smoother approach to rendering the audio. That with the added latency, I'm not sure I'd enjoy it. For the same price, delta sigma dacs seem to come out on top in terms of detail, no? I dunno, I'd love to be proven wrong. I'm still on the fence about the D2 vs Denafrips.
