A tiny form factor digital voice recorder.... with a physical and software remote control. Oh, but it's for meetings guys, just in case you want to catch your boss's funny joke as it farts from his lips. Pretty sure this was fully intended for spying on people, straight up. Shady.
My advice for people who don't like reading the comments I, or anyone else makes, is to ignore them. We're just shopping here; there's really nothing to be too concerned about right?
dingieSince it records at CD quality, one could argue so. I actually went to check a review of this and it sounds pretty nice. This could be in the Tech category though...
You can get a Tascam DR05x or Zoom H1n and be able to plug in mics, use SD cards etc. For less money, and have it now. The only thing this has going for it is the small size.
CalaverasgrandeYou are exactly correct. This is a ridiculous thing that has much better competition at much better prices. The sole purpose of existence for this product is to make Sony richer and consumers poorer.
I just received mine. Yet this unit doesn't seem to come with any valid warranty.
The warranty card says (in Chinese):
...
14) not applicable to products not sold by Sony China
...
Warranty area: Only for mainland China (excluding Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong)
JonnyWalkerReally?? This could definitely impact a US purchase.
Update: the Sony website PDF does state a 90-day warranty to a purchase made inside the US.
I'm considering something like this for recording conversations with friends, to upload clips as podcasts. Does anyone have experience with this specific recorder?
I bought a similar small, portable, square recorder from a crowd funding website but it died after a year of light use.
