Product Description
Sturmanskie, which means “for Navigator” in Russian, is one of the few remaining Russia-based watch manufacturers. One of just 2,000 pieces, this limited-edition timepiece is styled just like the watch that Yuri Gagarin, the first man in space, wore on his 1961 journey that would change the course of history forever Read More

My $50 kgb Amphibia watch from 20 years ago is more novelty than this and has the same movement.

I feel like it's.... really overpriced for a vostok 2416, a movement made from old melted down borscht cans and t34 tanks. The 2416 is a rugged but kind of spectacularly inaccurate movement. I have had to repair more than a few and getting the f**king things to actually keep time even reasonably (+/- 5 seconds/day) is such a chore. The 2416 makes a lot of sense in something half the price, like the amphibia or komandirskie. In the amphibia, you want reliability over all else, losing a quarter or half second matters very little on a dive when your computer died and you need to time your ascent from a deep dive. I like that they kept it all in-country, but does Russia not make any better movements than the 2416?

Alan_GI have a vintage Raketa and a vintage Pobeda naval officer issue - both are really accurate, though I did accidentally break the mainspring in the Raketa when winding it - it was probably just getting old. Still need to fix it. The Pobeda is neat, but you can probably hear it ticking right now from wherever in the world you're sitting. Fucker is LOUD. Vintage soviet watches are totally the cheapest way to get into vintage watch collecting, too. Russians do REALLY cool things with dials, and nice working ones with fresh leather bands can be had for $35-55 from old soviet bloc countries (I always feel bad when I order from this nice Ukranian vendor who has to explicitly state on his page that the literal war with Russia in his country isn't impacting his shipping) But, those watches are both vintage hand winds. Are they still around and making good in-house movements?

I feel like if Steve1989MRE from YouTube collected watches, he’d have one of these. For those of you who are looking up his videos for the first time, you’re welcome. Nice.

WatchyoutalkingaboutThe best thing about Steve is that he's just so. Fucking. Wholesome. And once you DO know who he is, you start to notice that other huge youtubers will reference him EVERYWHERE. Babish in particular will do "let's get this out onto a tray" and "nice" all the damn time. Steve's channel is possibly the best thing you never knew you needed in your life until you found it. The dude just eats MRE's. But it's somehow so more just because of him. I have one of his merch shirts, neon color portrait of him with "BOTULISM CITY" in neon 80's color/font.

HoneybadgersBabish, beard meats food, and even the king himself Reviewbrah have all dropped little hints. The actual history lessons he provides are my favorite parts. He’s clearly knowledgeable and a very high end ‘collector’ in the world of MRE hobbyists - which makes us watch snobs look positively sane in comparison. Who else living currently on the planet besides him has eaten something from the freaking CIVIL WAR?!

It never gets old seeing the same Drops every couple of months, over, and over, and over again, on rotation.

Question for current owners of this watch and @R2AWatches : for adjusting the time, I can only wind the crown clockwise and it'll rotate the hour hand counter-clockwise. Only one direction. If I missed the correct time I have to go around 12-hr to attempt setting the time again. Is this by design or a defect? Doesnt feel right to me; should be able to go both ways. (If I turn the crown counter-clockwise at set time position, it only unscrews the whole dial. It comes off at the end.) Please advise. Thanks.
