Headset? Earset? An unique way to get through virtual meetings
I work remotely from home and I have used this as a secondary solution for days with long meetings. Sometimes the traditional headsets leave you a mark on your head and hurt your ears from prolonged use of conventional headsets, but I found no issue with using these sets to get me through those long meetings. The only downside is that the pop filter is very loose and everytime I take it out of the case or every time I'm trying to put them away, it always become loose.
So lets get this out of the way: this is a $25 IEM headset. Does it sound as good as my Shure 215's that are my daily drivers? No, of course not, but they cost a fraction of the price, and they do sound pretty good.
For the intended uses of gaming, as well as podcasts, streaming videos, and casual music listening, the sound reproduction is very good: a bit bass heavy (but not overwhelming), clear mids, although the highs get a bit lost at times and lack a bit of cripness.
As for the mic quality, the in-line mic is... fine, it sounds about how I expect an inline mic to sound. The flex-arm mic though? Fantastic. It picks up my voice clearly across the range, although it does pick up noise from my keyboard; I'd recomend using some sort of software noise reduction if you're in a noisy environment.
The pickup quality is objectively better than my Xbox One Stereo Headset that was my former daily driver, but obviously not as good as a dedicated mic setup.
Full disclosure:
I had to get a replacement from ADV, my original had an issue where the microphone wasn't working consistently. I reached out to ADV who sent me a replacement headset with a minimum of fuss, and the replacement works perfectly. I suspect there was an issue with the inline volume control/mic/remote unit on my original, and the new one I recieved seems to have a new revision of the inline unit. All the sound quality comments above apply equally to both headsets. The comments below differentiate between the two headsets.
The build quality on the new set seems really solid, while the original's inline unit seemed a bit flimsy/cheap. The IEMs fit my ears comfortably and snugly, with no concerns about them falling out, and no issues over long sessions. The foam windcreen for the boom mic on my original was a bit loose and tended to fall off, but the new one also seems to have a more snug fitting one.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with headset even without accounting for the price.
the microphone is basically useless and causes all kinds of feedback and sounds terrible, which would be fine if these actually sounded decent. Save your money get a pair of KZ instead.
For the price - you really can't do much better. The only reason I deducted a star is because the foam piece constantly falls off the mic, and none of the supplied rubber ear buds fit my ears just right. But with the right fit - the sound quality is just awesome and the audio is super crispy - they are my preferred headphone for playing Escape from Tarkov if that means anything to you!
They do the job but mic improvements should be a focus by Adv. Too many times I've had people tell me to turn it up or why do I sound so far away.
Otherwise, don't forget it's under 30 bucks for a portable earbud with a boom style mic and carry case. Enjoy!
I am not a gamer, but I wanted to keep a pair of IEMs in my truck in the event I needed something for a Zoom call. For the price, I was not expecting a lot and these meet my expectations. The case is nice. And, the detachable stem-mic is nice if I choose to listen to some music, but the wind screen will literally blow off in the wind. They sound as they should for the price-point and that is okay. These will NOT compare to $100 plus audio buds, nor should they. These are also what I pack in my vest when I go drop a line in the water.
