Product Description
Ideal for a range of studio products, including the overhead miking of drum kits, the Superlux S241/U3 is a true capacitor condenser microphone with a half-inch gold-evaporated diaphragm. Along with interchangeable capsule modules and an FET preamplifier, it boasts a slight high-end elevation in frequency response that makes it ideal for capturing signals rich in transients—like those of acoustic guitars, snare drums, and hi-hats Read More
i just received mine, but their is no cable lol, could I use the cable that came with a $20 mic I already have? it fits. Also, how do I set it up on my pc?
Fascinating,
And I usually don't contribute to these types of threads. I just do my homework and mind my own beeswax.
That being said......
Its a mic 🎤 , a tool just like a screwdriver.
I don't have just one screwdriver in my toolbox, I got like probably 30 each one for different tasks, some with little tiny blades some with big fat blades some have big fat handles some with little tiny handles that you turn with your fingertips some with Phillips bits, hex, star, some are calibrated to only perform one task. Oh and they aren't all made by the same manufacturer and they didn't cost the same I got some Snap-On some Craftsman some Harbor Freight etc. and several are duplicates.
I got like probably 30 mics too from PZM's to LDC'S and SDC's to cardoids cause they are tools and I have more than one of the same thing too and some can be used in place of others or behave similarly. I even have some that substitute as a hammer 🔨 and continue to function flawlessly as mics lmao.
There is no screwdriver that does everything the same applies to mics.
I encourage all of you to equip your toolboxes as best you can with what you can afford .
Personaly, I like this mic for several DIFFERENT reasons/applications not to mention that this is the best price I have seen on a new one.
So I bought one cause I couldn't afford two and if another drop comes up I will probably get another.
Peace
mic drop
Gotta say...this is a very interesting thread about an truly insignificant 90.00$ microphone. One thing I DO KNOW is that if you wanna start some sh*^^t with anyone in the audio industry (at whatever level) just start acting like your opinion is "the correct" one. After 35 years in the industry the ONE ABSOLUTE is there are ZERO ABSOLUTES! Use whatever it fu*&%&^%ing takes to get the job done. Period. That is my credo and it has served me well. Yes, true that there are some tools you would never use if you were to say, record a symphony orchestra in Berlin using a DSD system (1 Bit Delta) and wanted to mix to , lets say, an immersive system like, DOLBY ATMOS, or some other high bit rate, high sampling medium...sure, I might choose a nice package of "super freaking cool old grey German Microphones, and some ultra high end mic pres, and on and on... but if I'm working on the South Side of Chicago and I'm recording rats eating pizza, well then, I might think twice about this 90 dollar "mass drop"...see what I'm saying? In any case, if you think you know everything cause you been working for 40 /50 years...well, my friend, its time to hang it up and put on that Mickey Dee's uniform you been hangin onto...
so, as per Massdrop's email on the 14th Sept, I should've received news or product by now. What's going on?
This is my first drop and I hope it's not indicative of the future
