Both named Everything Audio Network’s “Product of the Year” in 2016, the TEAC TN-550 and TN-570 belt-drive turntables offer style, performance, and the analog sound audiophiles know and love. The dual-material chassis combines artificial marble and high-density MDF to ensure a high feedback margin and crystal-clear sound Read More
I will say parts of this turntable are fantastic. Acrylic platters are far better than the plastic or stainless steel platters on a lot of cheaper turntables. The denser the material the less vibration, and that means cleaner sound. The cartridge isn't great, for the price I would think something a little better would be included. I would also strongly not recommend getting the version (for $200 more) that includes a built in preamp. You can get a very decent dedicated phono-preamp for ~$100 (Pro-Ject, Schiit, U-Turn) and an RCA to USB interface for ~$20-$50 if you are dead set on recording records on onto a PC. Having dedicated components means you can upgrade far easier in the future, if you desire, but it also saves you money up front. Win win.
The cartridge included is a sub $100 entry level moving-magnet type; It's nothing special; you will want to upgrade it!! The phono cartridge is critical: it is what actually produces the electrical current; the rest of turntable should get out of the way. Parasound makes a dandy phono pre-amp w/USB, available from Audio Advisor for $249.; you'll also be able to return it if it doesn't meet your needs. If you want to dip your toes in vinyl without an outrageous expenditure, consider U-Turn Audio first.!
Well, i think those turn table are too bulky than some vertical one or damn small factor one (used in the style of damn small linux because it was really damn small at less than 20mb when installed).
HerbalNekoTeaBoth of those turntables (if you can even call them that) are ugly as mess. If you want something elegant, tryout the turntable that's on this drop.
I dont care about thr price because I dont have to buy it and wait a month. What I dont like, is having to sign in to see the price and to read the discussion. When are you you getting the hd6xx?
For people complaining about the price, this turntable is amazing! Just checkout the last line of the description;"The TN-570 model adds a built-in phono preamp and analog-to-digital converter, allowing you to easily convert your archive to vinyl". It writes to vinyl!
Sarcasm accepted. Makes me wonder though, how many people read this add and then went on-line searching for blank vinyl discs ... move over Abbey Road.
For anyone considering the 550, let me just say, I paid a $100 more than the price offered here, and I'd happily do it again. This table is perfect for those who want the basic features of a high-end table, without paying thousands. It can easily swap headshells and it will really let you get the most out of your pre-amp. My end game, would buy again.
