Next-Generation Sound

The TFZ Balance 7 IEM takes balanced driver performance to new heights, improving sound articulation to create a better listening experience. Unlike traditional dynamic drivers, which have overlapping voice coils, the planar drivers in the Balance 7 have a fine layer of aluminum foil laid on their ultra-thin diaphragms. This allows the diaphragms to evenly stress, which reduces distortion caused by segmentation vibration and creates a smooth and supple frequency response. Hear substantial lows, clear and thick mids, and highs that cut through without harshness, all while enjoying an acoustic response speed up to three times faster than that of traditional headphones. Easily replace cables with onboard 0.78 mm 2-pin connectors, and listen longer with a feather-light feel that fits comfortably in your ears.

I did not buy them from Drop, but had a revelation using them and wanted to share my experiences with the community. For reference, my daily driver gear includes: THX AAA 789 SMSL SU-8 Sennheiser HD580 Beyerdynamic T1 Tin T2 Pro Sennheiser IE 8 Hiby R3 Chord Mojo Samsung Galaxy Note 8 I was using the Balance 7's via balanced 2.5mm straight from my Hiby R3 for about a month on the road and felt that they were pretty anemic. Bass was subdued and shallow, mids where hollow and highs felt grainy. I was pretty upset that they sounded terrible, even after getting them for a good price. The detail was there, but the depth of stage and tonality were just off. All that changed when I got home and plugged them into things with more power. And while on the AAA they sounded quite a bit better, it wasn't until I plugged them into the Mojo did things blossom. Bass was more authoritative, fast, and rumble/decay was finally present. Tonality in the mids and highs sounded more realistic and better balanced against the bass presence. Unfortunately straight from the R3 and other basic sources such as my phone and laptop outputs, the Balance 7's were very disappointing. However when attached to something with more power, they get quite a bit better. As they are open earphones I am now happy to use them in a transportable setup for use in the hotel room, etc. but for full portable setups, these are a no-go, considering the open nature and power requirements. Hope this is fair warning for anyone interested in picking these up. Overall I am happy with them, baring some caveats. For truly portable use I will stick to my IE 8's and T2 Pro's.
