The highly anticipated successor to the Tin Audio T3 IEM has arrived. Retaining much of what made the T3 loved by listeners here on Drop, the new Tin HiFi T4 adds several features to improve sound, comfort, and durability Read More
Not bad, technically the best of the "T" series, so if you liked any of the previous iterations, this one will likely appeal as well and make for a nice upgrade. Signature slightly tuned to the fun end of the spectrum compared to the T2, T3, meaning most obviously a slightly elevated bass. BUT chifi's making advances in leaps and bounds and alternatives are now available for similar $$$ or only slightly more. The Tapes and the Form 1.1s come to mind. Both those blow the T4s out of the water, do not even argue please. Compared to those two, the T4s sound weaker across the spectrum, the mids in particular are anemic and almost tinny in comparison. If you're a fan of the T series, get these. But for the the just curious, take a pass and move on to the Form 1.1s for around the same price. You won't be disappointed.
The highly reviewed and popular IEM is finally here. I think one of the crowdfunding sites have it slightly cheaper. But anyway, it good to see Massdrop being responsible to trending IEMs
Bought a pair from Linsoul when they were on Indiegogo. They were defective on one side. Kept having crackling and it would cut off randomly. It wasnt the cable it was the actual iem. They never replaced them so careful with them. It seems like their quality control is spotty and their customer service is horrible.
To be fair I’ve had this issue on the T4 and the T2 plus. I had a different experience in that drop didn’t want to know. With the T4 Linsoul sent a new cable and it fixed the issue. With the T2 plus again they sent a replacement cable which is an improvement over the original but the issue remains although not as bad and less intermittently. Bizarre I know.
CasperdogsI think it depends on how long after purchase you contact Drop. In our particular case, we were at the 42 day mark after delivery when the issue began.
Drop policy is 30 days after delivery. But you can request an escalation, and someone from Drop Community Leadership should contact you to discuss further options.
As far as Linsoul support goes, I would say a fair assessment is they (and it was only Jessie we dealt with) have extremely limited skills in English. It makes support very frustrating, as there is a huge communication barrier. Case in point: we've replied to Jessie no less than FOUR TIMES that Drop accepted an RMA and processed a refund for our defective T2 IEMs. Here is Linsoul's latest reply:
"We are sorry that these things happen to make you in trouble. We will be there to help you resolve this issue.
We understand your concerns, but please help to also understand that this is international shopping and we have put the warranty information on the campaign page too. Please kindly check the attached details. we will not undertake any shipping fee if you ship back to us for replacement."
Linsoul is still requesting we ship the defect T2 IEMs back. The ones we already sent back to Drop and received a refund for. Which we told Linsoul about FOUR TIMES.
I've given up trying to explain it to Jessie.
Just.. know who you're getting into bed with, people. For products up to a certain price point you don't expect to have a warranty, it's probably fine to buy Linsoul or TINHIFI. Anything else, do your research.
I'm using the T4s for about 1 month now and while the headphone itself really rocks (I can only compare them diretly to the Shure SE215, EOZ Air at the moment, if we are talking about in-ear VS in-ear), the cable is a weak-point Tin audio HAS TO FIX!
If you take a look at the Indigogo page for the T4s you will find a whole lot of people having the same problem: one or both sides randomly cuts out. And yes, I had the same problem. Fortunately, the Linsoul support is great and they sent me a replacement calbe which arrived in Germany about a week after my complaint.
And what should I say: they are nice enough to send the Tin T3 cable which not only works totally fine, no it also is better build and not so annoying "sticky".
All in all I would absolutely recommend the hell out of these headphones (for all genres besides heavy metal, which somehow doesn't work for me with the T4s...) IF the cable wouldn't be so bad. Only if you are sensitive to "shouty" headphones, you might lookt at other options: I myself don't think they are "shouty" but I can see why people come to that conclusion.
Just to give you guys an comparison: I would always take the T4s as mobile headphones over every bluetooth over-ear I have tried so far, including Denon GC30, B&W PX7, Beyerdynamic Lagoon/Aventho/Amiron, Audio Technica DSR7/ DSR9 BT and a couple of others I can't recall at the moment.
DieKaesereibeI bought these on indigogo too. I'm also having the cutting out when I move my head. The Linsoul customer representatives have been really supportive. They want to know if I need the cable replaced or the IEMs themselves. Have you heard of anybody having problems with anything other than the cable? Do you mind telling me how you went about getting the T3 cable?
Thanks for your help.
MusicmaniacThe whole 20$ credit thing just worked fine for me: I got a key which I used at the checkout for the Blons. It worked instantly without a problem.
So far I only read about cable problems and problems removing the broken cable: these MMCX connectors are a pain in the ass xD
And I got the T3 cable like this: first I described my problem to the Linsoul support. Then the support replied and offered me a replacement, which I obviously took. After that it took a bit more than a week and the replacement cable I got was the one from the T3.
Like others, I backed this on Indiegogo and have been using these IEMs for about three weeks. Overall, I was very impressed with the package. The monitors themselves compare favorably to any earphone I've used. There are plenty of impressions of the sound online that you can check out, if you're so inclined. The included tips are sufficient. As far as I can tell the only thing different between the black and white tips are the color. The carrying case is a nice extra. It's too big and bulky to carry in a pants pocket but it's great for throwing in a bag. As others have noted, easily the weakest point of these is the included cable. Mine is tacky like others have mentioned and will sort of catch on clothes and things when I'm moving around, which is mildly annoying. I've also found that the cable will sometimes briefly lose connection if I move my head around. I can't consistently repeat the disconnections but they're present. I ended up buying a replacement Linsoul cable and have found that one to be a much higher quality and pairing those with the T4 have increased my enjoyment of these earphones.
riseuplightThe Linsoul Tripowin C8. It was available on Amazon for $27. I don't have a lot of experience with IEMs so I don't have a good cable comparison, but it was immediately apparent that it's a much higher quality cable than the one that came with the T4. More flexible and the connectors are nicer.
