I own a pair (not from Drop) and quite like them. They do require amping and, for me, some EQ. The sound is fast, there's good bass, but you need to add some sub-bass to get rumble. The upper-bass/lower-mids are a bit overemphasized for me (400 to 1000 Hz), so I EQ them down and add some energy in the 1000 to 1800 Hz band. With that done, voices come forward and any sense of congestion is cleaned up. If you want to run them straight off a phone without EQ, don't bother with them, you won't like them.

The Toneking BL1 is a bit disappointing in my opinion. It's not bad, but it requires EQ to sound balanced as it has a moderately strong emphasis on upper midrange and lower treble which makes them fatiguing. Plus, as others have mentioned, they have no isolation. They're really comfortable, though. I wrote an in-depth review you can find here: https://www.soundphilereview.com/reviews/toneking-bl1-review-4338/

Slater91Fatiguing highs and mids?? Did I get some special edition that doesn't have those? The BL-1's are my EDC's, so much so I let everyone try mine when asked what they are and no one has ever said they didn't like them, only one person didn't and that was because it didn't fit his ears.

BergaukWell, either I did get a flawed model or you got the "right" one! I'd go with the second, though, as others seem to have the same issue as mine. It's Toneking's house sound anyway, they tuned the T4 and the T88K to the same curve, though with some differences. I quite liked the T88K, but the BL1 just didn't sound right to me. I'm glad you like them though!

These are amongst a few earphones in the world with rated THD level! Must be sounding fantastic! If the price wasn't out of my reach, I'd buy it despite its obvious drawback - its sound isolation is poor due to the number and size of the vents.

bigshelAccording to Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews on YouTube the P1 is the best planar IEM to date. He even debates whether they will be #1 or #2 on his top 10, beating the Moondrop A8 and maybe even the Fearless S8F. He's amazed how Tin have achieved such good tuning on the P1. And early bird price will be $149 on here and Linsoul.

General_PrillaYeah, a few early reviews seem to have them in very high regard and cheaper initially. Seems like the Toneking's are as well thought of too but ... there can be only one (for my wallet that is).

How can I tell if my daps will drive these without external amp? I have FiiO M9 and Acoustic Research M20. Thanks

For the price, juice it up with an amp and is magical.

How's the isolation? I know they're open back but is it noticeable, as with open back headphones?

olafwxWith no music playing you can hear more than other iems, but once you turn on the tunes it's hard to hear much of anything except music. Might not be ideal for say a noisy factory, but in an office that isn't a freakshow they should be fine.

As others have said, give them juice and they sound good. For this price point they are a good buy.

carlsanGot them today, and so far they sound fine out of my Shanling M0, but I need to run it on high gain. I'm sure an amp in the mix would help.
