It has plenty of power and doesn't feel underpowered with the HD6XX.
However, I'm worried that the treble will be a little nervous, and the spread of the bass peculiar to Sennheiser will be a little weaker.
However, the specs are good enough considering the price.
The l30 has many uses for me. One use is as a preamp ffg or my digital recorder. I can monitor therecorder input with myp + Dan Clark Audio Aeon Open X Headphones
If you live in the USA with a 110v supply it may very well be fine. If you live anywhere with a 240v supply you're in for a struggle as it's proving impossible so far to find a 15v AC adapter anywhere in NZ. DC is easy, however, the unit uses AC.
I have contacted drop for assistance. So far no response.
I think it's still fair to post, since future customers could be buying from here.
Knowing this, Im not buying this amp from drop. Idk why y'all defend drop so much with the "this review shouldn't be here" garbage
Mine sounds great so far, but there were a few cases of blown headphones caused by this amp that have popped up online as of 1/11/21. I heard Topping is currently investigating the issue but I would still be cautious if you receive an amp with a serial number starting with 2011 or lower.
EDIT 1/12/21: There was a post of a serial number 2011 blowing up, which matches the one that Drop sold to me. I cannot recommend anyone to buy this until Topping issues any sort of solution.
EDIT 1/13/21: Topping has announced on their Facebook page that they are working with retailers to exchange 2011 and lower models with newer 2012 models with better headphone protection. (https://www.facebook.com/topping2008/posts/3978806902130139) I emailed Drop and they have not yet responded.
EDIT 1/17/21: Someone got back to me at customer service on 1/15 and told me I could contact the vendor to receive a fixed 2012 model. If you do have this amplifier you should contact where you got it from and try to get the fixed version as well.
Jack.LI was wondering why I was able to pick this amp up new for $65 a few months back, turns out I got a model 2011 and I got from a seller on ebay so I don't see anyone replacing it. Tho I have been using it for months now daily since I got it and it is an incredible amp very very clean sound and power isn't half bad with a 3 way gain switch. When in high gain I have noticed my amp gets pretty hot which I read was common on the questionable models. While this only happens some times (usually with my HD6XXs) it makes me worry that if I hookup headphones that are too hard to drive that I will end up blowing this amp
