How does one get additional connectors, say if they have a need for 2 pin and mmcx for swapping different earphones without buying a whole second set?
For example, the photo with the case shows the extra sets in the mesh pouch.
Vaitedagree. i just got the fiio utws1 and they are great with the right iem, but the tight wrap-around made them unwearable with certain iem's for me at least. these look to have a nicer hook but the big win is to have the adapters for the various iem's (mmcx, 0.78, 0.75) plus the charging case. the picture of the charging case has the complete set shown in the pouch. it should come with all connectors or at least have an option to pay for extras.
I have seen the question, but not the answer. At $60 do you get all 3 connectors or only the type you designate when ordering? If all 3 come with then my check is on the way.
SonyChubb2If it doesn't come with all 3 and they aren't available separately... kind of makes it a moot point. Having swappable connectors is only worth it, if it comes with them or are available.
This is an inferior copy of the FiiO UTWS1. That is to say, the housing is identical (except for the plastic button while FiiO has aluminium), but internal components are inferior and functionalities more limited. It's such a shameless copy that FiiO has a comparison on their website. Anyway, the FiiO is superior and about $45. Borderline fakes like this should be boycotted.
RazzcalI have the Fiio model. I am considering buying this model as the charging case uses USB-C and the Fiio requires you to plug in two micro USB cables, which is a total pain. I'm also having issues with one of the connectors on the Fiio being finicky. I disagree with your assertion that these are completely inferior.
BazirkerI've had the bt20s pro for 3 months now. Never had a sync problem or dropouts, the charging case is a dream. Working 10-12 hour shifts and being able to use head/ear phones(no wires) and not worry that they will die is the reason I got these. Worth every penny.
I'm using these with fiio fa1
HenryLouis99I got an email from Drop on the 6th saying mine shipped but the FedEx tracking information is a mess:
Shipment information sent to FedEx on 6/10/20
Arrived at FedEx location on 9/10/20
Then I received an email from FedEx early this morning saying my package is on its way.
Now seeing that they've opened this drop again (cheaper than last time too) I question why I bother with Drop for anything that isn't a Drop exclusive.
Looks like it has great options/compatibility including both pin spacings for higher and lower end iems. Decent price, and definitely a step on the right direction for wireless iems.
Guessing the playback time is counting the charging case. It drives me nuts when they don't specify the iem's (per charge) playback time. Or it needs to be specified... "Total playback time w/included charging case".
Can you really specify it as "playback time" if you have to take them out to charge them?
It should be specified as:
Playback time (per charge)
Standby time (per charge)
Total playback time w/included charging case
Total standby time w/included charging case
.....but of course, NO marketing company would do that.
would also like to know how heavy they are.
nevinnon pro version says about 8hrs playback with a 100mAh battery.
The details say 700mAh case.
If the new ones have the same size battery [72hrs total/(1 on device+7 in case) gives me 9 hrs . . . No idea until they tell us tho'.
I have the BT-20S (non-pro) and have used it with various IMR, AAW and whichever other IEM with the right pins :-) The sound is different rather than worse than running directly from my phone (older phone with jack) with cables. It's similar to changing cables. But you do it for the convenience, not for the audio quality. For that, I have the ES100, and various portable DAC+amp combos. But for exercising, those are a hassle and these sound pretty good. I use "open back" IEMs as I'm out on the road, but with comfy spinfit tips. Main reason I'm posting is that I can get this in Singapore for US$49 including shipping (see https://www.lazada.sg//products/i1085472219-s4181668775.html) and I find Drop charging US$13 for shipping a joke on this. By the way the non-Pro version which I have is just US$22 at the same site. I stuck a tiny powerbank into a zipped case that also fits the BT-20S and split charging cable, and it's a bit more hassle, but quite usable (esp. as the powerbank was a freebies).
Oh yes, with regard to BT quality and range. The independent (left ear, right ear) connectivity is a one-time pain. And I've had more dropouts with this than any other BT headset. Dropout in the sense that I have to switch off and on one side to get it active again. But have not needed to re-pair either side. I don't think the dropouts was due to range as my phone is in my hand and my arms aren't that long. When I first tested range, no problem out till about 20 feet then intermittent problems. The ES100 would do this distance with no problems.
I want to preface this by saying I am a little sore about this drop. I placed an order for 2 of these on 8/20/20 and still haven't received them yet although I am told they have recently shipped, it is now 10/8.
So, if you don't mind waiting almost 2 months for something that you could have bought cheaper at AliExpress because they occasionally have deals on these with free shipping, have them shipped from China and still have had them by now by a huge margin, go right ahead. For perspective, lowest price right now is about $63 plus tax with free ship. It would take a week or 2 to arrive.
Picked mine up from a chinese ecommerce site for around 55 USD (after various vouchers and promo codes). If you look around hard enough you might be able to score a good deal. The extra cables can also be found in the same places.
First impressions are pretty good:
Bluetooth connection is strong. About 10m before it starts to break off. Way better connection compared to my Fiio RC-BT
Can't detect any hiss from my CIEM (AAW A2H PRO), but YMMV
Wire around ear is quite flexible and so far no discomfort experienced
Adapter unit is well made
Sound quality is good for a bluetooth adapter.
Carrying Case is really convenient and well made. Other than Shure True Wireless Fit Adapter, I'm unable to find any other true wireless bluetooth adapter with a battery case.
Pairing is quite seamless- Remove from case, connect using your phone and you're done. The next time you use it, you'll just need to remove from case and it'll auto connect.
The only issue so far is that chunky CIEMs would find it a tight fit inside the molded area of the case. You could probably store it in the sleeve on the top half of the case but it's also a tight fit height-wise. Small iems should have no issue.
Battery for the earpiece is rated at 9 hours for those wondering, not 72 hours.
NixxonSir can you help me please?
I have a 32ohm IEM, Would that work? From Aliexpress i saw that these adapters only output limit is 30ohm, So what do you think it would sound like?
KAYMOUSnot OP, but can probably help.
It's unlikely to be a very noticeable difference.
Because it's slightly less than the IEM's impedance, it will be (very very very) subtly quieter than if it were a full 32 ohm output.
This is to say, it will be driving the IEM with a 2 ohm mismatch, which is (IMO) not really that big of a deal, unless you're actively seeking full volume, full range sound- which wont be fully available on the bluetooth connection anyway...
TL;DR- not an issue worth worrying about, in my opinion.
I've just received my pair as I was in china paying about 70ish usd for it, so Drop price is definitely reasonable. I believe most people who are getting these already owned the BT20S like me and are quite pleased with it but let me tell you this is LEAPS AND BOUNDS better than the bt20s in terms of design which includes the upgraded type C case which is very convenient as opposed to the old bt20s with 2x micro usb charging which is annoying. Pairing is also straight-forward now with just one device name under bluetooth instead of 2 separate ones in the past, which is a huge plus. The comfort is phenomenal on the new earhook, it is much softer and feels higher quality which allows you to plug in your IEM deeper without giving you any discomfort, old one gives me slight pain around the ear as it pinches in although u could get used to it. I'm currently using Xelentos which are higher end consumer grade IEM and let me tell you these are the best BLUETOOTH adapter hands down. I have owned pretty much every single one out there from westones, shures, fiio and other lame china brand. You won't regret owning this pair... so bloody worth it for the monnies.
add on - after using it for some time I just have to say the case alone is worth it ! Such a bliss to just place it in to charge without removing my monitors and fiddling with the micro usb on each bluetooth device. And the charging case actually has a usable pouch to place your expensive cables in and big enough to close with the adapter and monitors in. Remember to disable Absolute Bluetooth Volume in developer mode for newer phones.
Sound is subjective. For a Bluetooth adapter this is as good as it gets already. No hiss on my unit but maybe my gears are not that sensitive, the ones that I've used so far on it are Xelentos, westone 30 and JVC-HA10000.
JeromeCYou made me buy it with your last edit. I have bt20s and liked it but was not comfortable with 2 micro usb cable charging and didn't use it much because of that. Type-c is a welcome addition too, the price is a little steep (considering nothing has changed in the internals) but I hope I'll like it.
