Just got mine today! Although, there is tons of static when playing any record that I have. Even tried a brand new one. Anybody have suggestions or the same problem?
Are you suggesting I remove the dust cover then? Or just play with it up?
Should I buy a AudioQuest LP record clean brush? Use it before playing records?
I have the felt mat on there now, should I play with no felt mat in the mean time? I tested with and without and it was about the same.
Also, I saw you put a new cartridge. I was thinking about upgrading to the AT95E (Small upgrade, nice price point). Would that help?
I played records for about 1-2 hours and the static seemed to die down, but it's still there. I am trying to rip some vinyls and don't need annoying crackles when it's not even the record (tested with new and older).
jefI was just saying the cover can contribute a portion of the static. I have my cover on and always play my vinyls with it down to keep dust to a minimum.
I myself clean all my vinyl with a Spin Clean old & new Lp's before 1st play then use a AudioQuest clean brush before play (dropping the needle on wax).
Always have some sort of mat in place never play just straight on the platter!! ;)
Cartridge upgrade would help the sound characteristics not the static I believe.
I don't rip vinyls so can't help you there. ;)
These are just my opinions and by no means an expert. Trial & Error!! (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■)
Just got mine and set it up. Currently spinning Ornette Coleman's "The Shape of Jazz to Come."
It all sounds amazing. Might throw an OM on at some point, but right now the AT sounds fine. Putting the belt on wasn't even as hard as the instructions made it seem.
A++++++++++
So as temptation as it I decided to swap to my Shure M97xe. I could not resist any longer as I already knew the Audio Technica has its limitation. Now that's what I'm talking about!! More Mids and the Lows oh boy. Those highs are now singing like it was meant too. Set overhang to 17mm from center spindle to stylus and then adjust alignment with a Stevenson protractor. All it took was a slight mod to the counter weight with 2 steel washer to adjust for appropriate tracking force. I have mine set with the stabilizer (stowed up) tracking at just around 1.27g. U-Turn orbit sounds so slick!! Super Stoked (•_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■) (I had to add a few pics plus one with some of my favorite LP's of all time)
VolvoSpeedV70RLooks nice, but can't you just move the counter weight further back by loosening the set screw, instead of adding the washers? Or did that still not provide enough weight?
I received my drop yesterday. Out of the box, the motor was popped out of the plinth but I was able to put it back. There also is a chipped paint on the plinth. I hate to do this but can I get a replacement? See attached photos.
We have some good news everyone! The vendor has already shipped out over 90% of the drop, with the remaining units going out the door on Monday.
Expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 6/29 or sooner if something comes up.
