Sloan_4455Agreed, I find it strange that massdrop chose a set with no bread knife. Unless you carve roasts and fillet salmon all the time, most of your cutting is done with chef's knife, serrated bread knife, and small utility knife.
I know, but i really like the sparkly clean dishwashed feeling. I sharpen the knives before each use. my dishwasher washes at at 95 degrees celcius ... which I know is not good for the blade theoretically .... but doesn't appear to make it softer ... just looses the razor sharp edge.
it-manI've got knives with wood scales, micarta scales, and these overmolded fibrox handles and I have a strong preference for this style of NSF-certified overmolded handle because I can work with a high degree of confidence in its cleanliness, without resorting to chemical sterilization.
fwiw, Victorinox claims these are dishwasher safe.
TigerUKThere are six knives, none of which is a BBQ knife. Their bread, chef, and paring knives are great for beginners. The honing steel is necessary for keeping your knives in good shape.
The other two are far more situational and not needed in most kitchens. That's beside the point, though. You said they're junk and, while the value, both in terms of cost and use, may be questionable, the quality of the knives is not.
