Best Value IEM
*** I am not a professional reviewer, only a music enthusiast *** All music reviewed was in FLAC format played on my FiiO X7 II. Casual listening on high gain at 40/110 volume. When rocking out turn it up to 70-80/110. Granted I bought these from Mass Drop, so only paid a fraction of the price. And that price made these IEM's well worth it. With shipping and tax I paid $117.98 USD. Build Quality These things seem solid. I have only had them a week or so and let them break in for at least 72 hours with continuous music playing on my desk. I am not usually a fan of these bigger bodied IEM's because they don't seem to fit in my ear canal very well. It's like the nozzle isn't long enough to get lodged in. I prefer the bullet or tubular style. However, the Kylin fit ok with the smallest silicone tips. And there are no micro-phonics with the cable. These are the first for me that are dead silent when you touch the cable. Sound I still haven't found that one defining track that I can compare headphones with. I am fumbling through the music I own, just listening. The Kylin sound great. It's like upgrading a cheap Wal-Mart home theater in a box to a professional Dolby Cinema. Even though I listen mostly to Metal music, I consider myself a basshead. Sound needs to have that visceral punch of moving air for me to like it. I find neutral to be weak. These are accurate, high fidelity. I constantly find myself swaying or headbanging while listening to these. Bass Oh, bass is there. The Kylin have authority. Bass is there, but not overpowering. Maybe slightly elevated above neutral, but I enjoy that. Mids Good mids, not recessed. Guitar distortion crunches like it is supposed to. Vocals are clear (in context) and well defined in the mix. Highs Smooth highs. Guitar solos and cymbals sound "natural".  Overall I would place the Kylin in a category with IEM's costing 5-6 times more. If you want a great sounding IEM but don't want to break the bank, buy the Whizzer A-HE03 Kylin. P.S. Not that great under a helmet riding a motorcycle. The V-Moda Zn do a good job there.
