I get my keycaps from the first round on Thursday. I will let you know how bad the warping is, and if you should completely skip this drop or not.
3/21/19 Edit: The set is unusable, avoid at absolutely all costs. The keys themselves look and feel pretty awesome, and they would go with many different boards. However, 100% as expected the set arrived with a non-functional spacebar. As you could guess, it's curved like a longbow.
In my experience, the space bar didn't always register or it would register multiple times. And yes, it's the fault of the keycap, seeing as how any other spacebar I tried didn't have this problem. I ended up ordering a replacement spacebar.
Hard pass on any SA keycaps from this brand for me. I have gone through 4 different WinMix SA 9009 sets, and the space bars are warped beyond usefulness on every set. Warped to the point where if I spent hours using the hot water and weights method to straighten them out to get them to mount, they would still look hideously warped. Backspace key doesn't work on any of my 9009 sets either. The stabilizer stems on the keycaps seem to be molded incorrectly. It looks fine, and when mounted looks normal, but the key will not un-actuate.
this is actually a big deal! before now SP has only had SA row3 in PBT, so dye sub has never been a possibility on SA sculpted (im not even gonna mention the SA production wait.) im not interested in this set BUT it will be great to see the SA sculpted sets that are to come. however, i thought i remember there being issues with PBT on some of these larger keys, so it will be interesting to see how these turn out
dilkROMprices have gone way up, quality has gone way down
sa nuclear first run was somehwere around like 50 - 60 dollars for a full set, now its insanely high
they used to include notes about thanking users for buying and stuff, now all you get is jumbled keycaps in a plastic bag
Ridiculous. I don't really understand how someone could design a set that includes an alternative @' key but doesn't then think about the implications of where the " needs to go... Just terrible thought process. Will probably end up cancelling the order but I really like the set!
NaspAnd that’s why I’d be okay with blanks, too. Blanks are good for Dvorak, Colemak, Workman, and all kinds of other ergonomic layouts. And the way I see it, a dye subbing process (as opposed to doubleshot molding) has blanks as an intermediate product, so it would be reasonable to offer part of them for sale.
Question?! How's the compatability for 60% keyboards? I need an ESC key (or one of the goofy keys) to match the number row NOT the function row. Please let me know
I-Use-My-KnifeLooks like you're in luck! You can see in the picture showing the side of the keyboard that they match. ESC and the number row have the same profile. It is picture 6 of 10 when I looked. Best of luck!
Disclaimer: I'm just a guy looking for the same thing, not someone who can verify with caps in hand. I have a Drevo Calibur (60% + arrow and navigation keys = 71% ^_-); it has ESC the left of the number row.
