It's not about being liberal or progressive. It's about recognising stupidity when you see it.
Things really haven't been the same since Kaepernick decided to kneel. #thetroops are spinning in their graves, and no matter how many times he says it's about racial injustice or whatever, I insist that his protest is about the thing I want it to be about, and is therefore dumb. I know one thing America is number one at, and it rhymes with "meths clue poo movid pine-spleen." I think we've earned the right to call it the America Virus.

The only things actually wrong with this watch are the weaseling excuses people are using to suggest they may like it, without coming out directly and saying THEY DO LIKE IT! Here are some examples: "Ridiculous sizes"--Dive watches aren't supposed to be petite and no one buys a screaming Orange or Yellow one to go unnoticed. "Chunky devil"--Fat shaming Dive watches is no longer acceptable behavior! "Italicized all-caps font"--Sorry, Giambattista Bodoni doesn't make Dive watches anymore. "Exhibition case back--would have been killer?"--Like the ones on your Seamaster, Sea-Dweller and Submariner? Please--looking at a Seiko NH35 movement is about as exciting as the Women's Undergarments section in a 1937 Sears Catalog!

Of course, I had to go and peep their site...not the best plan for an adhd watch guy, but - one of the things that legit bugs me about this Aragon (and my Seiko Baby Monster, and and and) is there is no lume or pip at the zero mark on the bezel. If this thing is really a diver, you should be able to read the damn bezel in the dark. Even if you took this to a 10th of it's rated depth you'd be hard pressed to see the dive timer. Thankfully, Aragon makes some other super-de-duperly cool timekeepers, IMO - and on sale, to boot.

Might still get one of these D3's still, as this one above is money I shouldn't spend. But it's the best looking solution I've seen to maximize bezel visibility. Oh, that site is a rabbit hole.

granitestateofmind Agree with you 100% on the lumed pip; (among other things) it's a requirement of the ISO Certification for a true driver, one that can legitimately print "Divers 200m" on the dial. In another post I was pointing to an article in Fratello discussing discontinued Seikos that met those qualifications in the two-hundred-ish dollar range. Evidently those days are gone, so unless you're willing to spend three, to four times that much for Seiko's current rage of ProSpec "Divers" (Turtles and Samurais on the low end) one would need to look at other options. Fortunately, there are still a few around. I liked the models in shots you posted too--illuminating the dial, bezel and the bracelet takes the whole concept to another level. I'd almost be afraid that kind of light down in Abyss might attract unwelcome attention (possibly even the Great Kraken, for instance, whom I recommend avoiding at all costs).

Still for the average desk diver looking for tough, SUV of a watch at a decent price with a dash of flash, Aragons ain't bad. PS: (almost) always stay within your budget ;- )

This is the kind of watch that only RayF's majestic, ultra-manly wrists could pull off.

Since this is an Aragon, the specs should also state the weight... every Aragon I’ve seen seems to be both very thick (regardless of size), AND very heavy (9-12oz).

RayFI really like the animal on this pic. Just not sure about the colour of its jacket, makes it look pale.

17mm and a bio dome crystal? This is as conservative as it gets for a sun dial.

The lack of an external bezel backs that thought.

Yes no bezel, bulky ,might get in the way a bit. Can't understand the high WR. and helium release valve! But I guess like you say ,a fashion watch, just with high specs. 25mm is also way to high for me ,I would think at most 17mm like the Aragon, so it can be accessed over a wetsuit cuff. Maybe a novelty if the price drops enough.

Here's another line for the watch drop copy Hall of Lame:

"Powered by an SII NH35A movement of 24 jewels, the watch ticks with a satisfying sweep." That would be the equivalent of: My heart beats with a satisfying Heart Murmur. or... My engines purrs with a lovely rod-knocking sound. or... My lovely wife played Hatchet-Face in the Johnny Depp movie: Crybaby or... I just bought a balanced cable on MD--for my Bose Quiet Comfort 35s. Because my dear Susie Q, "tick" is to "sweep" as "knowledgable" is to "haven't got fucking clue"

I have two Aragon watches, the Antigravity and the SkyGuardian. The Antigravity is beautiful, the domed crystal gets lot of attention, as it should. The SkyGuardian, well, meh, it sits in my watch box most of the time. The quality of both watches is good, regardless. This drop is a really good deal and I'd be tempted if I wasn't already plotting my next purchase, the Straton Daily Driver... (thanks @RayF !).

Phly Best be careful if you go back to that damn Straton site; he just launched a bunch of new models including some awfully attractive GMTs. I'd hate to see you become, you know, tempted...

Our choices are a 45mm or 50mm diameter bezel... The choice between a clown watch and the full-on Flavor Flav.

Shame!! great value watch for the price; I did visit the website and found this is a Florida based company that really do put a lot of effort into their designs, but making watches in China - what's new ; and I guess the Chinese quality has lifted dramatically in recent years. Oh!! it's a shame because of the 17mm thickness; works really well and in balance on the 50mm; but hell it makes it look huge on the 45mm. Just too high; 4 or 5mm less would be perfect on the 45: and that aqua blue just looks great. Still at $109 tempted.

Maybe it's a fashion thing!! I know Diver watches do need some size for the vision issue when deep. I see that most ETA 7750 chrono movements are at least 14 mm upwards, but not a standard 3 hand auto movement surely. Spinnaker is just about to release a SW200 movement diver with a dome crystal, and 47mm wide(similar styling to some Aragon models ; is it out of the same Chinese factory??); and if it's usual Spinnaker it will be at least 16mm thick. I agree with you a lot of automatic movements ,even with 200 mm water resistance don't need that size, my perfect size is 43 wide and 12 thick for a diver: probably why I bought the Combat Sub bronze ; almost perfect and at a good price on Drop. It would be nice to see an Oris diver or two on Drop I don't mind their specs, but I do mind there normal high street prices!!

JAoneYeah, there is an evident market for larger watches, and brands that decide to target that one rather than the one made of people looking for versatile divers. I'm ok with 12, 14, but above that it tends to get into chronograph territory in terms of thickness. For 1000m WR why not, but doesn't seem absolutely necessary for 200m only ;)
