Fusing old-school style with modern technology, the Audioengine HDP6 speakers pair well with stereo receivers, integrated amps, and tube amplifiers. Available here in a pair, each speaker features a 5.5-inch aramid fiber woofer and a 1-inch silk dome tweeter that work together to project a soundstage typically found in larger floorstanding speakers Read More

Before these Speakers, my only experience with audio was Logitech Desktop Speakers, random headphones, and "gaming" headsets until I got the HD58X from Drop with O2 + SDAC from Drop for my desk setup.
I bought a case for my HD58X because I plan to never use them now owning these Speakers.
I use the O2 + SDAC and the Audioengine N22 Amplifier to run these Speakers, and I have them on the Sonic Fiber Monitor Mounts (bought on Drop) so that they are more level with my ears (which I think is half the reason they sound so good). I buy CD's and rip them to wav for listening. You can definitely hear the separation of instruments. I spent many hours finding songs that can make these speakers flex. Very enjoyable. I like bass, and there is plenty. And they can get very loud without loosing quality. Since it is dampened by the stands, it is much cleaner bass and not just rumble like what you'd get from a subwoofer. When watching stuff like YouTube, it feels like the person talking is coming from the monitor and not the speakers. I'd imagine Netflix would be a great experience with these.
My experience with Audio is minimal, but these blew me away with the setup I have, if you also have only Logitech listening experience, if you can get them for $250 like I did, worth the buy.
dude...I feel your pain ;-( but it'll be worth the wait...
I got my pair from the factory in May '19 for $700, plus a month later put out another $160 for the (Sanus) stands, which added the third dimension to the SQ once I got them off the horizontal plane of a desktop. For their price I'd put them up against any speaker. I truly wish you could hear my system: a simple enough, but balanced analog pairing of the jotunheim, modius dac and the HD6 with a klipsch r-100sw powered sub. Simple but amazing audio environment regardless of which hi-res format chosen. They also have legendary bluetooth sound quality (AptX HD) and 100' range if you need that. I think they will be the last small speaker/amp combo I'll ever need. When I did spring for the high dollar FOCAL Clear, with no regrets, it brought out the potential of the balanced sq of the jotunheim/modius ;-)
This is screwed up. I just got an email advertising these AudioEngine HDP6 speakers today (December 1st, 2020). This is the same failed drop they had before.
The advertising text says it's for two speakers but IT IS NOT.
If this truly is the same drop, you will be shipped only a single speaker, creating frustration, leading to a return.
Hi, my Yumi is acting up recently. I am thinking change to use passive speaker instead. Any suggestion on good amplifier (mid price range) that go with these pair ? I mostly use it for Vinyl. Although, I am thinking getting SMSL SU-9 later as well.
These are gorgeous and I almost pulled the trigger on them. I opted with Fluance's Ai40's that are active (35 watt amplified) and I couldn't be happier. Fluance also offers a 30 day test drive and they didn't go back. Over the last 18 months I have thoroughly enjoyed their sound. The bass response in exceptional and the Bluetooth features allows listening from my mobile device's. I have them in my bedroom where they supplanted my Bose Wave. The improved stereo separation has left me never looking back.
Let’s not sit here and act like Drop has good prices... I tend to find that Drop charges more and it takes longer to get to you. Not quite sure of the value of being a member anymore. Kinda bummed.
TomWitt-2Not looking good.
The Drop details page for these speakers mentions that each speaker weighs 12.5 lbs. The Fedex Shipping Facts page for my Fedex tracking number for these speakers says the single carton that made up this shipment is 14.7 lbs (much less than the expected 25 lbs that 2 speakers should weigh, without any packaging).
Fedex reports that there are no other packages as part of this shipment and that the entire shipment has been delivered.
It's clear by these numbers that Drop sent only a single speaker.
Awaiting a response from Drop support. (Day 6: Three separate emails to support, at long last a response)
Email #1: Them: We only order enough to fulfill the orders, we don't have any replacements. You can send it back if you don't want [Me: I don't want a replacement, I want the original order to be fulfilled]
Email #2 : Them: Sadly there was a mix up with our vendor and we were sent single speakers, not pairs, these were in turn sent out to members. We're working with our vendor now to remedy the situation but we don't have an ETA on when this will be resolved.
2020-09-26 Update: Well, Drop acknowledges they screwed the pooch on this one and they're not going to make it right. My options are that I can return the single speaker received for a full refund (or keep the single speaker and Drop will gift me $20 (or $25!) for my next order). So disappointed. I was really looking forward to hearing what a high(er) end speaker sounds like. I can't bring myself to play only one speaker, even for a fidelity test. It would crush me if sounds awesome, knowing it's destined to go back to Drop (because the Drop buyer and AudioEngine supplier can't discern a freakin' count... 1 carton does NOT equal 2 speakers).
TomWitt-2So you keep 1 for the cost of 2. and they only give 20-25. Sounds like a bullshit offer. You should have raised hell. Doesnt make Drop doesnt look very good in this instance.
