I picked up the AD900X today for 119.95 total 2 day shipped from the big A site. That's only $12.71 more and I get them 03/15/2019. Massdrop has these shipped out on Apr 8, 2019 PT. Over 3 weeks... $13ish bucks is totally worth not waiting lol

I currently own 6XX, K7XX, Koss KSC75X, and Superlux HD668B all powered by the modest Schiit stack. If Anyone is interested I can give my subjective opinion when they arrive. I do a mix of music and gaming.

cKreepyOhI would be interested in a comparison to those other headphones after you've had a bit of time to listen. Thanks!

I've spent a little time with the AD900X and here are my thoughts. First I'm no audiophile. I hear audiophile terms all the time and I can understand what people are talking about, but I find sound so subjective that it's hard for me to use such terminology. I'll try my best. AD900X build is good enough. The non detachable cable is terrible and I'm tempted to try a cable mod. Also the pads are okay if you don't have sensitive ears. I have industrial piercings in both my ears so the pads needed to go. I replaced them with Brainwavz XL hybrid pads. Bass and soundstage might be a little better with Brainwavz but I didn't spend much time with the originals. They're not that different sounding. I opened up Tidal and listened to a few master quality tracks. Here are my notes Superlux HD 668B - Bright. These things kill my ears. Bass is surprisingly good and they have a decent soundstage that's not completely inside my head. I never use these headphones. I slapped velour replacement pads on these. 6XX - Smooth but incredibly veiled to me. The sound in completely inside my head and the vocals are really good. No doubt these headphones are great I just don't find myself picking them up often. K7XX - The sound is more energetic compared to the 6XX. Doesn't come close to the ear stabbing power of the 668B so don't worry. Much better than 668B of course with more enjoyable sound than 6XX. Soundstage, bass, and vocals are all good. KSC75X - For the money I suggest you pick these up no matter what. They are my go to portable headphones. Are they super ugly? 100% yes. The sound is even and pleasing. Soundstage is okay. AD900X - I'm incredibly happy to add these to my collection. Separation and detail are very good for me. The soundstage is the best and gives me an almost in the same room feeling. Vocals are good and up front and the instruments seem to complement around them. Bass is there but these are not bass cans. I like that the bass is just enough to even out the sound without drowning it. I compared these headphones with "Morph" by Twenty One Pilots. I also listened to "15 Steps" by Radiohead. I will listen to more music for sure but want my thoughts out quickly rather than slowly in hopes to help anyone. I picked morph for the tambourine at the beginning of the song to determine soundstage. 6XX - In head Superlux - At ears K7XX - Inside earcups. Better extending beyond. Better than Superlux KSC75X - At ears and a little beyond. AD900X - From drivers at least. Mostly beyond. Best of all. My preference for gaming in this order AD900X K7XX KSC75X 6XX ... and I guess Superlux. I think I'd rather use my EarPods tbh Please let me know if any of this is helpful in any way! If you have any other questions I'll do my best to answer. Positive feedback/constructive criticism appreciated. Again I'd like to stress that this is my personal subjective opinion on all these headphones. Also I'd like to throw in that I have a pair of JBL LSR30X's on isoACOUSTICS stands and when it comes to music I 100% use these over headphones when possible. Gaming I like headphones all the time. @skyrider @Etazman @CaddyWhomp @zep483 @mickey95

cKreepyOhThanks for so much information! They sound great if I can get over the non-detachable cable thing... That, and I'm not sure between these at the 1000X... but it sounds like you're very happy with them!

zep483No problem! I've not heard the 1000X but I bet it's great. Out of my headphones the Audio-Technica are definitely my current favorite sound signature. It's nice having options for types of music and different days/moods.
