Improving upon one of the most recommended entry-level headphones of all time, Audio-Technica took their well-regarded ATH-M50 and added more low-end response, less treble brightness, softer padding, and interchangeable cables. The result, the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones, is a sonic and structural upgrade poised to oust its older sibling from the headphone throne Read More
Nightf0xxNonetheless bro, he reviewed the M50x-bad & Beats-good (his opening sentence said so). Doesn't matter what he said about price to performance ratio.
And this guy, you said is the authority in audio??? Talk about misleading. I have since seen a lot of his shaky videos, dunno now, he has a lot of equipments but I doubt he has the ears. Crapy reviews with mostly inaccurate claims.
The point is, m50x are cheaper and better than Beats solo 2 in every way. Yet was given an unjust review while beats was given a good review by this Zeos (who is claimed to be the all authority in audio). This is misleading!!! And i hope people realise this.
Btw have you tried the t50rp's? They need a dedicated power generator to run. But ya, they sound good once powered well. Agreed!
Nightf0xxIt's not misleading you just arent paying attention to what he is saying......but to each his own.
t50rps don't need a generator......smsl m3, smsl sap7, o2/odac, smsl m6, smsl sap7 can all power them just fine.
Awaiting confirmation! We are still in contact with the vendor and just awaiting updated shipment estimates from them. We have a call scheduled first thing tomorrow morning and should get a bit more visibility in regards to when we can expect the group's individual packages to ship.
Expect another update from us on 11/21 or sooner if something comes up.

ArthurMI think the problem is not that the product is late, that's with the vendor, it's with the lack of communication. It's bad customer service to tell us you'll know more on Tuesday, then not tell us till next week.
ArthurMSomeone should be managing the Drop and be in constant contact (at least weekly) with the vendor. They should at least try to hold the vendor's feet to the fire with respect to shipping dates and keep the customers informed, Just good business practice.
I just joined the drop... This will be my first pair of "audiophile" headphones, or do I start referring to them as "cans" now?
I am pretty excited, should I be worried about getting an amp or dac? Lol I need to research I don't even know what those things really are...
Lol I also promptly ordered dbrand skins and brainwavz velour pads...
fenzinatorI often connect the m50's to my cell phone and they work nice. However connecting them to an amp or amp/dac would make a huge difference. As I said in another post I have connected these to everything from my cell phone to my game console and they never disappoint. These are just my opinions.
People are always surprised of how Massdrop uses their shipping method.... Haven't you figured out yet? It's Massdrop, not Amazon or Ebay. This is a community/enthusiast based company... Their net-worth isn't big compared to other companies. Don't blame Massdrop because you live in a different country.
ATragicEndingYep. I have been watching Massdrop for a while and I have not yet found anything worth the price. The discounts are so minor and usually are lower than shipping and custom fees. For me Massdrop is another online store with limited assortment and delayed shipping.
Many people use these for studio reference, but reference can be boring. For good reference, l like flat, detailed, accurate, and good seperation. If a phone sounds muddy or there's bleed over into other frequencies, then it's difficult to mix. I've never heard them, so I wouldn't know much about them. However, many people dislike them. Often, since I cant test the phones, I have to trust what others say,or not. Somtimes I'm pleased, pleasantly surprised, or disappointed. After all, our hearing is very subjective. For fun and reference, I like a little coloration. I would never buy a musical instrument without playing it, but for phones, I do alot of research and read alot of reviews. Some You-tube reviewers I trust and I learn about what those reviewers have an ear for. I think one well known, has an ear for treble, and anothe, likes more bass, where another is more midcentric. Your guess is as good as mine, but it's so much fun finding that diamond in the rough.
These are 9$ more on amazon for prime shipping new ones in black or white. And only 148$ with a FIIO Headphone amp and hardcase. This isn't 50% off at all.
EdenhackWhere exactly? I cannot find this deal. I mostly joined the drop because i really want the grey color and it costs $190 elsewhere. And i don't need a crappy amp bundled along with it.
CapitalistCatI would recommend if you're ONLY going to use them at home K7XXs but if you're going to move with then M50Xs or find a used pair of Bluetooth™ Headphone. If you're going to buy used wear first to make sure they work, for new choose at your will but IMHO the K7XXs are better
CapitalistCatI gave my M50s to my son when I got my K7XX. I was a K712 owner too (sold them after weeks of side by side comparison with the K7XX). The M50(x)s are, in my opinion, one of the best values in closed back headphones on the market. Extremely well built, top notch sound quality, and very versatile. I can find very little not to like about them. BUT, as others have said, the K7XX is open backed. This provides a broader "sound stage" but also allows sound to travel both IN and OUT of them, while you are wearing them. This is not a problem with a closed back, such as the M50X.
I use my K7XX exclusively in my relatively quiet home office. I love them and can wear them for hours at a time. If I had $50 less to spend OR if I was planning on using them in an environment where sound leakage (both in and out) mattered? The M50X would be the ticket I would buy.
How comes the lowest price, assuming people join, is higher than the price in amazon? I don't need the amp, and that should be the reason why the price is higher than in amazon? I thought items here were cheaper? Don't understand... This costs £93 in amazon.co.uk...($143)
