Product Description
The most popular model in Audio-Technica’s critically acclaimed M series, these closed-back cans have the quality build and sound signature of their predecessors, with the added convenience of three interchangeable cables (two straight and one coiled). They feature contoured cups for comfort and sound isolation with minimal bleed, and on this drop come complete with a pair of Brainwavz memory foam earpads Read More
Can't be the M50. Drop description says "with the added convenience of three interchangeable cables (two straight and one coiled)." The M50 cables are, of course, not interchangeable.
There is no single good reason for AT to include the higher end m70x model so at best you'd be getting the m50x with custom pads with cheapo brainwavez and at worst a lower end model in which case it would be a straight up bad deal.
How does this deal even make sense with all due respect.
Looks like pricing just isn't competitive on this one...
Why not offer a bundle of two headphones? Maybe include a mid-fi, open model at a higher price point? Hxll, add the superlux 668b to this at $124.99 and I'd probably jump on board.
Hey all,
The image showing a second model wasn't supposed to be included in the listing and has been removed. Too many drops launching here at Massdrop HQ and this one slipped by us.

To answer the burning question why these are listed as m??x: our dealer agreement with Audio Technica prevents us from listing their products below MAP, but doesn't prevent us from selling them as long as we don't explicitly say what they are even though any of us can look up the specs (which we have listed in the description) and match them up to the appropriate x model and know exactly what this is and what a sweet deal it is, especially if you add the second set of earpads.
These headphones come directly from Audio Technica and will be supported by the full manufacturer's warranty.
You children are being upset over something that's bigger than you expect.
Audio Technica forced a new firm msrp of 169.99, anything g less wouldn't be covered by their warranty.
To those of you saying you found cheaper elsewhere, I doubt it. Retailers are having to give "free items" to appease to the consumer and to the new guidelines set by AT.
I bought these from Massdrop for 130 last year, you're getting the same price + free ear pads, essentially.
sick deal. i can tell you that the stock ear pads on the audio technicas crack and get shitty after about 4-5 months. nice to have a spare/better quality set included.
pizzamuncher88My M50's are over a year old and I don't have this problem, I used them everyday inside and out before I gave them away a few weeks ago after getting my HD600's.
MSRP $268.50?
These have never ever retailed for over $200 and the replacement pads usually goes for ~$20 .
Can someone from massdrop explain why these are being advertised on the page as "53% off"
raexxIf I recall M50x MSRP is 249$, but the minimum advertised price for authorized resellers is 169$ (which is why they went for the question marks), so they're basing the MSRP off the original.
It was 189$ in Canada last year but this year because the Canadian dollar is so bad it's 219$!
