MidnighTempestI haven't heard the 1990, but my understanding is that the Amrion treble is not as harsh. I would definitley recommend demoing the Amiron before buying- while the treble isn't particularly hot, it does border on harsh. For me, it's an awesome headphone with great detail while maintaining a relaxing signature that I can listen to all day, which is only made easier by their superb comfort.
If you have narrowed it down between these two sets but are concerned about treble sensitivity, the Amiron is definitely the ticket.
I own or have owned the T1.2, T90, DT 880, DT990 and the Amiron Home, The T90 and DT 880/990 have been sold, I like the T1.2, but the Amiron Home are my favorite. Like many have said, they are the least Beyer sounding cans they have made, but are fantastic.
I also own dozens of Beyers including the T1, T90, T70, DT-everything. I've also used all the newest generation Beyers with mixed impressions. At the top of my list for the latest gen headphones are these Amirons. They do everything the first generation Tesla driver headphones do well (fast, detailed, great sound stage, airy) but better. To contrast at the bottom of the list for me are the T5P V2 and in ear Xelentos.
Has anyone paired the Amiron Home with the Massdrop CTH or Audio-gd NFB 11.28 and can comment on how they pair?
I currently run my HD 6XX from NFB DAC + CTH amp or the NFB headamp.
