A hit on Drop with recent models like the DMG, earphone manufacturer BGVP is back with another impressive offering. The DM6 comes in a variety of colors, and with its ergonomic, ear-filling design, it could easily be mistaken for a high-end CIEM Read More
Hey y'all. I'm really interested in this IEM, since I've heard BGGAR said they are extremely neutral (which is what I'm looking for). But looking at the description here and the review that is based on, it says that these are " mild V-shaped-sounding ". And yeah... I am confused. I don't want Vs. My favorite IEM so far is the TinAudio T2, but I was thinking of stepping up the game with the DM6. I'm not sure anymore... I do have the TRN V80, which was reported to be fairly neutral as well, but to me it's really not, and it's treble is badly tuned (too hissing, while lacking sparkle and detail like the T2s). I was looking at the DMGs as well, but I was left with the conclusion that the DM6 was better and more neutral... Can anybody give me some advice? Thanks.
I listened again to the V80 (its been weeks), and think it's not just a problematic treble. There's some mid-bass congestion in side 2 of Abbey Road. That's too bad because a nice slam sounds great, and it gets plenty loud. EQ on an iPhone sucks, and the V80 can't be fixed using their presets. For the treble sensitive this could be annoying at times.
Hopefully the DM6 will be better, in terms of gauging the reviewer. His rec of FH1 worked for me, but V80 for me (and others), not so much. Of course I could have wax in my ears.
So, at this point, Massdrop, the words "Order placed with vendor" are burnt into my retinas as if I had been staring at the sun like a moron. I need communication. I understand stuff happens that causes delays (I work in logistics), so I'm not asking for perfection, or a refund or anything. Bit it's pretty freaking basic that if you are experiencing a delay, you let the following party know when their product will arrive. You know when my particular set will be shipped to me, because BGVP has told you when they will get them out to you.
It is basic consumer mindedness to give me a personalized estimate (not asking for a guarantee) of how much longer my particular product will take to arrive. In any other business, this is unacceptable.
Massdrop, step up to the plate, we need some communication, and at least an indication that you will address this with future drops. Otherwise you're proving to be an unreliable party from which we should keep our money.
J_AdamsNo worries. Hope the above helps. I have read the thread started by HBB and watched his vid on Youtube. Totally agree with him when he emphasised the need to produce these iems to the same level as those he got. What I totally cannot accept is the manner in which MD handled this matter from the start. You don't collect the money and not be bothered about keeping the members informed of changes to the order. Its elementary. Will never make another transaction here ever again.
For those of you looking to get a customized fitting for the DM6, here I have all the info you need! I actually spoke with the official company/rep in China (Yes I am Chinese and can read Chinese too), if you are getting it through their online store at taobao(biggest online store kinda like ebay/aliexpress) and you want to *upgrade* from a standard model to the customized fitting when you are making the purchase through them, the difference is $400 RMB (~$75.59 CAD) , this does not include the cost of getting an ear impression ,which I heard is around $200 RMB (~$37.80 CAD) in China, how sure how much is here in Canada or North America. However, I asked them what if I already have a pair of DM6, can they still modify it to a customized fitting, and they said its doable , but the cost will be $600 RMB (~$113.39 CAD) , and the cost of getting the ear impression, and Cost of shipping YOUR DM6 to them is extra (generally its really cheap if you ship within China, probably ~$20 RMB which is ~ $3.78 CAD), and they can ship it back to you within China for free. However, if you are shipping it to them from elsewhere in the world you probably have to take care of the shipping both ways. ALSO, they offer customized color/style/finish on the standard fitting for extra charge when you order from them(vs the plain color we get here), so becareful when ordering from aliexpress or other site to check if the customized price is for the customized color or customized fitting. Hope this helps.
A warning to all considering buying this. I bought this in the last drop, and one of the driver's died so one side sounds quieter (noticeably the mids range). No problem I thought--I contacted Massdrop CS because there was an 1-year warranty card inside the box. Nope, Massdrop says since they didn't list a warranty on the product page, the earphones aren't covered and your're SOL even if BGVP offers a warranty. Just buy it off Amazon or eBay so you can get peace of mind that you still have a warranty.
Yeah Massdrop isn’t a bad site but I just wished they were more explicit with the warranty details. I’ve had Shure SE215 and Etymotix HF5 before, and currently own DM6 and HD6XX. It’s unfortunate though because the DM6 were my favorite pair. They had great detail retrieval and were fun to listen to, especially as a treble lover.

stonew10wow that's complete horse shit. i hope mines don't die...
massdrop you’re killing me. When I picked up the DMG drop, a lot of the comments said “The DM6 is rated better” and then literally just one week later you give us a DM6 drop? Not cool.
I would describe it as a solid sonic performance with tones of air....
But with DM6 you really can feel every single bass note vibrating inside your ear canal.... And the fit is by far the best to me among all of my iems.... It's like dissappearing inside your ear... Easily forget you wear it...
Suberb iem....
