This headlamp, for all I can tell, is a great buy. I couldn’t give it 5 stars, though, because the battery compartment has a design flaw: after normal use, one of the batteries won’t seat correctly. My workaround is to stuff paper or tape into the compartment so the battery will stay in place. Otherwise (obviously) the headlamp won’t come on.
Other than that, it’s a powerful headlamp that I’m not afraid to bring into wet weather!
Bought this before the Israel Trail, the longest one in the country, and it helps me alot! When the sun fall, this one saved my ass day after day, with different types of modes. If you need a quality headlamp for a track or just night camp, this one is definitely a good choice. Enjoy :)
Quite a nice unit - plenty of modes, adjustable brightness, strap and back of torch comfortable, and not too heavy.
Only negatives are that it is fairly easy to accidentally activate the full bright mode if you touch the side of it, and mine seems to emit a slight high frequency sound when in certain modes which is noticeable when background noise is low.
I use my Black Diamond Storm headlamp for endurance events and it has been flawless. This includes a Spartan Ultra Beast, Hurricane Heat 12HR, and Agoge (60 hours straight). I have zero complaints, but it did take me a little while to get used to the controls for the lighting options (red, green, spot, flood).
