Coffee tastes far better when it’s made the right way—and Bonavita knows it as well as anybody. The Motif is the latest brewer in the company’s extensive lineup Read More
I bought the upgraded model (Timer and corner orientation) from Willams Sonoma and returned it. No mater the grind, just couldn't brew anything with body to it. Everything was watery and we drink dark roasted coffee. I thought it was going to be a keeper and was really bummed out to return it. It's one of the few SCAA Certified Brewers with a timer. Apparently this is the same company as Bonavita.
I've worked around the timer issue by using a Smartthings controlled AC smart plug that I can turn on via my Amazon Alexa when I am getting up. I don't always make coffee this way but it's good if I want to.
Just to add to the Smartthings comment... you could even do things like setup a sensor that would trigger the coffee brewing when you get up (and it senses motion) and it's within a certain time window. I haven't done this myself but I do have motion sensors for lighting in the home and I could easily setup an action to do this.
Personally I think this might be better than a timer approach as the timer would go off if you were still in bed or would not go off (in time) if you were already up. Setting this kind of thing up isn't overly expensive as the hub is about $99 bucks and the plug maybe another 30-40. But you'd also then have the beginnings of a nice home automation setup :)
