I was considering this one. Tubes seem really interesting, it has a lot of features and price is fair but after I found out streaming is not an option (unless you connect it to your phone via Bluetooth and use it like a Bluetooth DAC) I changed my mind and got another one.
I own couple of digital files or CDs I ripped but mostly listen from Tidal or Spotify. I know, not everyone needs streaming but it's getting more and more present and Apple and Spotify will offer lossless means there is a growing demand so a DAP without streaming is totally OK but seems like deal breaker for most.
Headphones.com. Same price with case and free fedex 2-day. I ordered one with an A&K sr-25. Went with the sr due to build quality, finishing, and better display, but it’s a $700 player. Got it open box $579.
What makes this better than an ipod, or a smartphone. Unlike a record player it seems to me that there is not even the nostalgia factor here. I’m trying to understand what a device like this gives to its users. It might be self evident to an audiophile, but I’m not one.
There are plenty of dealers on eBay, you may submit an offer and settle for a reasonable price. I bought mine from audio46 in NY. It was selling for about $380 by the end of last year.
Hope someone out there can help. Started using my Cayin N3Pro, loaded a MicroSD card with some music, right after the unit scans for the music it will play but once I turn it off an attempt to use again it will say it does not recognize the files, has anyone else experienced this and can give me some advice on how to solve? regards to all
Thanks Im very grateful for your reply. As I said have been trying with different cards, as well as mounting and dismounting it. I guess I will just have to be patient with it. Was trying to ask the Cayin support folks but the support page is all in Chinese so that was not possible for me. I was wondering also if if could have to do with the way one formats the MicroSD card before transferring the music to it. anyway, regards and thanks again for your advice.
Hit me up at my username at gmail if you're interested in picking one up in great/like new condition for $375. Comes with the leather case as well. I just have too many DAPs & have gotten used to Android-based players. You can find my listing on head-fi.
~edit - DAP has been sold. Thanks for the interest.
