Product Description
The Certina DS Blue Ribbon has specs to warrant its robust framework. Featuring a thick stainless steel case and sapphire crystal, the watch is durable and satisfying on the wrist, which only makes sense as it’s water resistant to a noteworthy 330 meters Read More
Wouldn't mind owning this watch or others that are mentioned, but just can't right now. It's take-a-breather time. There are just so many fine, fine watches out there.
Not sure why massdrop chose this watch over certina's ds-2 series which are much better for not that much more. Ds2s are considered haq watches (high accuracy quartz) and use thermo-compensated movements which meet cosc standard for quartz watches (drift of no more than 20s per year).
JustawayIt's still not a bad piece, at all. It's movement is reliable and good. http://calibercorner.com/eta-caliber-955-112/
Yes, the quartz movement is relatively inexpensive, but you're also getting great quality steel, Swiss quality, and sapphire. That degree of WR is also nice to have. This is a very fair price for this watch (although its strap isn't to my taste).
JustawayThat might have made it more interesting. The deal breaker for me was standard quartz movements, and not mechanical. Much too high a price for mere quartz movement inside.
I have this watch Blue face/Dial, and it is a really nice piece. It’s got an ETA quartz movement, which is very accurate by my standard. 300M water resistant, fit and finish is nice. You won’t find this watch much cheaper, if at all.
Chrono is $297.02 on Amazon and you can have it on Monday with free 2-day shipping with Amazon Prime. When is Massdrop going to start scanning the marketplace? Hardly competitive pricing here.
These are also quartz and higher priced than I would pay for any quartz watch from any brand. Quartz movements are dirt cheap, really, really, really dirt cheap. They cost watch companies near nothing. You're paying more for the hood ornament than all the rest combined.
MEH!
The photo of the C007-417-11-041-00 model on Ashford (https://www.ashford.com/us/watches/certina/C007-417-11-041-00.pid) shows the sub-dials are black. I'm on the fence with the all blue face, but really like the look of the black sub-dials. Can someone confirm that the face on the Massdrop offering is all blue?
