Dekoni is bringing its highly regarded line of ear pads to Audeze’s LCD Series, which covers the LCD-2, LCD-3, LCD-4, LCD-X, and more. They're also a good fit for the Monoprice 1060 Read More
Good job Dekoni! M1060 owners rejoice, seeing as Vegans were $100 (rip-off) this is a deal. @Dekoni can you add a plastic support ring like the one that comes with the Audeze pads, something like the TH-X00 where it can be bought as an extra.
EDIT: Just informed the m1060 & M1060C Head-Fi threads as Monoprice Monolith owners will be very interested in these.
Ya see Mr Dekoni!
I emailed you about these many moons ago and let all the 1060 owners know, I think you should give me a free pair of fenstrated for my marketing skillz I estimate 70+ pairs sold by the end of the run! :)
Good job, nice to have alternative and Monoprice will continue with a new m1060 which is supposed to have a totally revised headband. When that is out I have no idea but it has been mentioned by someone who knows a Monoprice rep.
Hi
Can I ask a huge favor. I know you guys do the Fostex T50RP pads but could you make an angled version with a slightly larger hole that is similar to the other vendors oval pad and alpha pad. I have an Argon and find the ovals a bit rigid and then the Alpha is a bit soft but the oval has better low end and the alpha is neutral. Maybe you can add a Dekoni flavor into the mix and now that Fostex released the T60RP it appears they are keeping that shape around.
I would love to see an alternative lambskin you guys could come up with for this especially on the Argon and even your Dekoni blue. Thanks and the Audeze run looked like it did good, good job!
I have a pair of MrSpeakers Ether C v1.1, love the headphone, just can't stand the pads, like pancakes! Wondering if I can fit the velour Dekoni pads on my Ether C?
I did notice that they have adhesive tape, if I remove this, is there a lip to slip under the driver housing? That if is they will even fit the Ether C! :(
Do let me know if you guys have any experience of this.
I bought velour and hybrid.
both improve the lower/sub bass bit more(mostly not a hearing range) and just mids/highs slight more also.
but I dont like adding highs more from the default, so I tweak the pad adding some kitchen felt to reduce the gained highs.
currently, I use ether flow with this dekoni velour & ether default both.
comfort is enough. but I cant assure this pad cooler than default leather. at least, velour is less sweaty.
for helping soundwise, I add the image of my measurement graphs from miniDSP ears with ether flow open.
measurement graphs aligned at 1khz.
green : ether flow open with default pad.
orange : with dekoni hybrid pad
purple : with dekoni velour pad
SJ_LeeGreat, looks like the velour is the one for me. I have always found velour to be the most comfortable and the porous nature tends to help mitigate a bit of the claustrophobic nature of closed back headphones, at least for me. :)
Thanks again!
omniweltallThese appear to come with a set of rings, if you carefully remove the pads you should be able to reuse the adhesive that is on, if you have brown vegan pads they will get ruined as they use some kind of paint so it peels, the normal leather type should be ok but still be careful!
It will be interesting to see how the Elite Velours compare to the now unobtainable Audeze Vegans. I would have assumed that the velours would suck more of the bass out but the page claims that it doesn't cause frequency loss like most velours. These might be a godsend for those M1060 owners looking for a cheaper alternative to the ZMF pads.
After doing a cursory image search it looks like the Dekonis have a more square hole whereas the Eikons have a more oval hole. I think this would make the Dekonis better than the Eikons for the M1060 because it would cover less of the driver slots. But we won't know for sure until some reviews come out.
Just received Elite Sheepskin for my LCD-2. Fits very nicely, not as good with foam fillment as originals, but higher, keeps ears farther from drivers. Soundwise: more bass and spaciousness in midrange. Gentle press for better fit = sounds mostly like originals.
dk604Yes. Current production leather earpads from Audeze, as same as their previous ones from 2015-2016, are much softer. That is the reason why I am currently listening with my LCD-XC, waiting for my package with original Audeze earpads, so I could be able to wear my LCD-2 comfortable once again.
EDIT: New pads from Audeze arrived. Dekoni were blown out of the water - day and night difference in comfort. I can now use my LCD-2 few hours straight without fatigue.
Just received my velour pads. A touch bigger than the M1060’s diameter, but this was to be expected; as they’re for the LCDs. Like the stock pads, you can line up the seam to the front pin/screw, for proper alignment. As noted, they come with a 3M adhesive ring already attached to each pad.
I can’t say if they make a difference sonically. As I have the M1060s connected to my recently arrived Audio-GD R2R11 and the new DAC/amp has completely tamed the highs. But they aren’t in any way taking away from the sound quality either.
The pads are thicker and plush, vs. the stock pieces and are much more to my liking, comfort wise.
Any suggestions for the lcd xc? Or should I stick to my original leather memory foam earpads? I imagine the original are better for sound,
Also is it safe to use a heatgun on my wooden! headphones to remove the old pads without destroying them?
AbohirKeep the original leather pads. I have tried suede pads aswell as leatherette pads. They just do not sound that good. Too bright especially with the leatherette pads.
