Drop + Fostex T-X0 II Planar Magnetic Headphones

Based on the world’s most modified headphone (the Fostex T50RP), the T-X0 II gives you full control over the tuning. How? In the spirit of modification, we’re including two sets of damping foam and two different ear pads. That means you’ll get four different tunings to ensure the headphones meet the needs of your specific listening taste—no matter how eclectic.

The T-X0 II is the new-and-improved follow-up to our T-X0 headphone. For this version, we kept everything you loved about the original, but made some big-time upgrades to the sound signature, including tweaks to the sonic tuning, tonal balance, frequency extension, and clarity. We’ve also re-tuned the T-X0 II to clean up the bass response and improve the midrange. Now, they sound just like a pair of perfectly modded Fostex T50RP headphones right out of the box—and with the included modding kit, you can make them truly your own. To make the listening experience even better, the new pleather pads are thinner and more comfortable than before, too.

Promising high-fidelity audio that’s better than conventional headphones, planar magnetic headphones are on the rise. But what makes them so special? In a way, planar magnetics are a hybrid between electrostatic and dynamic drivers. They feature a series of evenly-spaced magnets on both sides of the diaphragm that act on a flat plane—hence the name, “planar magnetic.” Thanks to the evenly-suspended diaphragm material between permanent magnetic fields, planar magnetic drivers are extremely resistant to distortion. They’re also super responsive and have a hyper-realistic sound signature that you’ll notice straight away.
