All I need is a simple SDAC to go from my desktop to my Hi-Fi system. (Altec model 19,McIntosh C41, Soundcraftsmen MA5002A) I started out with a cheap unbalanced DAC and was semi happy with quality. I decided to go balanced and Drop + Grace was the only one that offered balanced and unamplified that wouldn't cost an arm and first child. My lights flickered multiple times during a storm and the SDAC didn't survive. I will be purchasing a replacement from Drop + Grace.
Bang-for-buck with good resolution, albeit with limited uses
Hard to complain about the Grace Dac, given its mode price point. Unfortunately, I find the lack of flexibility in terms of inputs and outputs limits the Grace Dac from becoming a "swiss-army knife" of affordable, balanced DACs. Regardless, this non-descript black box performs well (as far as a DAC does).
This is the perfect little balanced DAC to use if you've got any sort of balanced AMP and want the full experience. I've been running my Loxjie P20 off of it for at least a year, with no problems whatsoever, and I can attest that it does indeed provide an improvement when used with an AMP with balanced circuitry. One of the only products that can perform at this price point, and I think the only one from a reputable brand.
tjcaustinI know the 789 came back for like a day just couple days ago. Sad that if this dac comes back it maybe very short lived which I might miss out again.
This DAC sits on top of my Massdrop THX789. I use it almost everyday when I work on my laptop. Beautiful part about the DAC is it works, it's simple and is a clean DAC. I have no complaints and would recommend this to anyone who needs a balanced DAC.
So I was trying to find something to hook up my JBL studio speakers but for best sound wanted XLR hook ups and this does just that and for the price it was the best option I could find being wrong strong for well over a year
