Wouldn't it be easier to use a direct digital amp ala Zetex to get rid of distortion and have the cleanest most original sound possible?

VedaUnfortunately Zetex/Qualcomm DDFA (Class D) isn't the easiest, nor is it cleanest. The AAA 789 amp combined with a solid DAC will mop the floor with it. Unless they invent a digital transducer with perfectly linear transfer function, it's a misnomer that you can have an "all digital" signal chain. Transducers still need a linear analog voltage waveform.
