These seem pretty impressive but on the looks side the combination of the cartoon rabbit and white plasticky surround make them look cheap and aimed at anime-loving teenagers--something you'd expect to see on a rack next to the Skull Candy selection. Just a weird choice for a high end IEM...
So, why they call the 5x5 streamlined!? Because it is not a tribrid - the electrostatic driver is missing, exchanged with a BA. So, you miss air, detail, staging.
InvisibleInkat first I thought you mean that ironic wise
what's really surprising these drop was active for seven days and ended with 19 sales and now within less then 24hrs after ending 11 person requested a relaunch
AlbertAngMonarch is much more impressive sounding, and higher technical level as well, but they are big and will not fit smaller ears.
VxV is more comfortable.
Just posted up my review of these earphones. IMO given the other options at this price, a special and well-rounded package that's especially suited for daily use with a durable BOM, pressure-free yet isolating design and non-fatiguing sound.
An added bonus that not many have mentioned is that they are very source agnostic so you don't need a dedicated DAP or AMP to run them - they tolerate a high output impedance and higher noise floor well. This is definitely an overlooked part of owning a high-end IEM day to day.
It's resolving and technically accomplished, well-balanced with slightly forward vocals that keeps the sound focused and engaging. The bass isn't the most dynamic and some might want for more warmth in the midrange, the focus here appears to be on separation and cleanliness without too much sharpness in the mids or treble to suit prolonged listening sessions.
I've taken some independent measurements below and compared them with other IEMs around this price in my full review here. Enjoy!
RJSLBS“they tolerate a high output impedance" - if you're talking about LID (linear impedance design) or similar technology, then these iems don't have it, sorry. So high output impedance would absolutely affect the sound.
ToxeusI'm not saying they have a flat impedance curve or were designed specifically for this, but the frequency response doesn't change much with higher impedance sources. I have measurements as well to back this up even if it isn't on the box! Anyway, it's a plus and something to consider.
Holy mother of IEMs!
I want these so badly, 90% because of how they look! (Yeah, I know, I know...).
/me thinks of customs fees.
Alright, alright. Forget it.
ToxeusYou're right... It would still be cheaper than shopping locally, at 799$. It'd be little over 980$ with 22% VAT to Italy, or 820€ if you prefer. Seriously tempted soon again! Aargh!
Tried it, and i think it is a very solid option for under 1k$. Great technology and comfort, tuning is a little strange in the mids for me, but if you don't mind a bit of EQ, it's worth it.
