I ain’t gonna lie, I like this watch ! Been trying to stay away from Glycine for the longest. Anyone has the model below ? Also is it possible to find this somewhere else cheaper ? Thanks y’all !
Very solid, very comfortable Swiss beater watch.
That was the merit for me.
I went over the bars in an unfortunate drunken ride home from the beach bar on the beach cruiser, and scratched the crap out of the bezel.
I didn't throw a fit.
For those comparing this drop to Ashford; don't forget Drop sells all over the world; Canada, Europe, etc. In this case Ashford has fair shipping charges to Canada, but most other online retailers based in the US either do not ship to Canada, or do so at outrageous cost.
Drop is, for non-USA buyers, way more competitive even with a slightly higher price for the product itself. When the product itself is a bit higher compared to elsewhere, it might not be a deal to you guys and gals based in the USA, but others, located outside the USA, might find it a better deal than you think. It's not all about US shoppers!
The only movement I could find was a "Seagull(chinese)" watch with a 28 jewel swiss movement????? Very confusing, I will put it in the "too hard" basket, but MarPabl will know. He should get this conversation pop up and notify him, he is probably on of the guys who will either know what movement it is or know where to find out!!
The description doesn't make sense not bad overall, would be nice to have a vintage bronze option. Model descriptions do not make sense unless they have havr been resused from Airman drops. Why would Combat Sub have an engraved rotor with an airplane. Or a display caseback at all?
Also, 25 jewel movement? Actual ETA movement instead of Selita?
True and in a lot of cases they advertise eta but when you zoom in on the rotor you’ll see 26 jewels anything sold within the last 2 years is sellita 2 years ago I was picking up gmt eta 2893-2 glycines for $329 all day
WathingTimeETA is unfortunately not selling ébauches to other companies anymore. Or rather, less and less. Research it. In a few years, I think you're not going to find ETA movements in non-Swatch group brands' watches. We all have to get used to it.
Anyway, Sellita was a subcontractor to ETA movements and there is basically no difference.

The 42mm with Explorer Dial looks nice. Anything bigger is absurd, might as well just brand it Invicta at that point.
fenderjapanQuestion. Is that to suggest that brands such as Brietling, Richard Mille, Hublot, Omega, Panerai, IWc et al are absurd? I mean they all make watches over 42mm...

Greg_BrindleyThe Navitimer, Speedmaster, and other Chronographs need and benefit from larger case styles. I am speaking purely about Submariner-type watches.
Everything Richard Mille puts out is hideous though, yes.
I'm going to ignore the fact that MD calls this a Diving watch when it's clearly marked a Combat watch.

Diver above, Combat below; note the subtle differences!

Hope that clears up the confusion.
Now as to the deal, the PRICE seems very good: $170 less than Amazon, and only $10 more than one version offered on eBay (MD's selection and price wins hand's down ;- )
So, if you're off to some exotic location hell-bent on reducing the the local population, this may be the watch for you. But if you're a lover, not a fighter--and prefer underwater adventure as opposed to the endless and pointless slaughter of your fellow human beings, get a real diver instead!

RayFPerhaps it is an homage to both combat and diving heritage: Navy divers.
In case anyone was wondering, the last watch with the green bezel has Jason Taylor's signature. While he has a whole bunch of gaudy Invicta designs to have his name, I really liked this Glycine and saw it for cheap on Ashford a couple months ago.
Unfortunately, it's a color scheme from his Jets days. I'm never getting a Jets themed watch...
I have enough divers, but if I was in the market Id look at the glycine combat sub or the squale atmos for sure. There is a vintage Glycine that Ive wanted forever but never found, its the combat 7, and two variants in particular, I cant even find them on google anymore.
