Oh pshaw!I might just as well ask: why are you here and reading my comments?
Near as I can recall, I started this thread and your name wasn't on the guest list!
Tell him Bruno!
An other overpriced product made in c h i n a... are some companies still trying to rip off people? I thought everyone by now was awaken... Buy a THX789 or a SMSL 200 and save the rest of the money for the next pandemic which will come in an other 2-3 years from now.... or just spend it on booze.
16? 42?
Well counting my last amplifier it's nine. And while I'm not exactly proud to admit it, I lost money on everyone I sold. But in terms of me not being the guy to rely on for audio equipment advise I disagree. I have an electronics Degree and I'm also as old as dirt!
I'm also pretty knowledgeable on different amplifier designs and well, I know what I don't like!
hahaha.
:-)
Sooooo... at this asking price... why wouldn’t one just buy a Ragnarok 2? I mean, if you’re going to pop them can drivers in a single glorious bang, isn’t 24 > 10?
Yes, I really like the looks of the Cayin amps. What do you mean about verifying components? Like Cayin is using fake ones, or like my Cayin product is fake. Ha ha ha, I actually just ordered the IHA-6 amp and I am waiting on FedEx to get it to me (they never get me anything on time). I figured if I like that amp, then maybe and upgrade to their full tube line. I am also a sucker for VU/dB meters, it just makes the amp look like the real deal, even on solid state amps.
AnimalwithdrumsMostly the risk of scoring a fake one, or a unit shipping with extremely old electrolytic capacitors. That and I've seen too many complaints about lack of service and support. But, not owning one myself, that is pure hearsay... and doesn't bother me one bit as long as the unit works from the get-go. I'll fix whatever fails.
I wish companies would add the switch to select between input and output for VU. I don't typically run my amps terribly hard, so the meters don't dance all proper-like when they're connected to output. :)
scottluYour right Scott,
Planar-magnetic headphones seem to require a fair amount of power to sound good. I had the HE-4, sold them and now have the LCD-2. Both listed specs as an efficient headphone to drive. Pfft. Sure you can, but when I got my Ican PRO and fed the Audeze some real current man did they open up. My advice to anyone who purchases Planar headphones from Drop, get the most powerful amp you can afford. You will thank me. Or not! :-)
true.... no one piece of gear can be all and end all.... i was naive enough to think there're 'endgame' gears when i entered the hobby... little did i realize every piece of gear has its pros and cons, multiple by number of pieces from media file/cd to the ears.... there are so many variables to be considered to achieve a compromise in the end......
