That power reserve thing looks out of place on this watch, without it it would be a lovely design.

I’m not a dress watch guy, but if I were...

...and I were also Father Guido Sarducci, and spoke with a heavy Italian accent, I might ask Hamilton: “Hey, Hamilton, why you fuck’n up the dial of a my watch, with a that damna gasa tank gauge, eh?!” He’d probably tell me it’s a feature Father—because the watch has an 80 hour power reserve--twice the reserve of a typical forty hour watch. “So what I need a gauge a for then, if it’s got a 80 hour reserves? Soundsa to me, I need a gauge on a my 40 hours a watches—those are the ones a gonna run down! Not a my 80 hours watch, its a gonna just keep on a ticking!” Hamilton might reply: Well we put it there mainly to let people know it has an 80 reserve. Then I’d a say something like: “How a come you didn’t a put a no gasa gauge on a my Murph? It’s a gotta 80 hours a too! Then Hamilton would finally come clean with me—he’d say: Well Father, it’s like anchovies—some people like them on their pizza, and some people don’t. He’d a have a me there! You can’t a argue with a pizza logic.

Nice one.. But a couple of Certinas are currently on their way.. :P About movement "Mechanical H-13 automatic" Image and text from: ablogtowatch.com "..The Hamilton Jazzmaster Power Reserve is powered by the caliber H-13 movement with 80-hour power reserve. There is limited information online on the product page or elsewhere on the H-13. But given that Hamilton is part of the Swatch Group, we can take a leap of faith and assume that it is a similar, if not the same, movement found in the Tissot Powermatic 80. Essentially, it is a modified ETA 2824 with timekeeping rate lowered to 3Hz, a longer mainspring, and a new escapement in place... " 3Hz which is 21,600 vph (six notches per second) Read if necessary. full review here: https://www.ablogtowatch.com/hamilton-jazzmaster-power-reserve-watch/

Hendrix-DK As Father Guido would say: "Si, Hamilton lowered the rate 3Hz to get the 80 hr reserve."

"You know a why? I'll a tell a you why!"

"Because a there's a no such a thing as a free pizza."

"Even when a Dominos say: 'Hey you gotta the free pizza"--you don't. You still gotta pay for delivery, and you gotta give a little something to the guy who brings it, for his a trouble."

So no, it's a not a free pizza--you gotta pay for those 80 hours some a way."

I mean, yeah, ok, not bad. Not a fan of the date window, but... I think this design might make it hard to recoup investment if you decide to sell, but who knows? Cheaper or the same price at numerous outlets online, so why wait for Drop to deliver?

For really cheap watches this is true, or for watches that should be really cheap but aren't (yeah you, Sevenfriday). But once you move into the $500+ range (not luxury by any means, but still...) you might want to take resale in consideration. You may not get all your money back but mitigating losses can certainly be a factor. For the insanely rich maybe not so much - for the rest of us definitely. In fact, just as with cars, cheaper watches may recoup more of their original values than expensive ones. Check luxury car depreciation rates - insane.

I think this is a nice understated way to throw a complication on a watch. I'm limited to GMT and PR complications at my age with my feeble eyes. Those busy chronos are too much for me. Handsome watch, but I would only buy if this was a screaming deal and it isn't in my opinion.

I would prefer it without the power indicator; but then it would be similar to a Glycine Combat Classic. I would buy the combat classic at just over half the price of this "Hammy"; though. Not the biggest Hamilton fan, prefer the Glycine for the value for money.

Yes and no. For most eta powered watches with a power reserve, it’s connected to the winding mechanism of the mainspring barrel. It’s defintely a complication, but not particularly difficult one to rig up.

WatchyoutalkingaboutRegardless of how easy it is to do, they charge more for them. Considering you can buy a Jazz master w/o power reserve for less than 5, I'm not sure how you could argue the point. it's just reality
