This was the only DAC I've purchased that was clearly superior to all the other DACs I own. That includes the Schiit Modi Multibit V2, the SMSL SU8, Topping E30, Dragonfly Red and the older Peachtree DAC-IT. The caveat is that there are 3 Firmware versions, but in my opinion the one you want is 7.3b (unless you want MQA, then you need 7.3). I felt 7.3c, with the GTO filter was overly bright and aggressive sounding.
I used the Dragonfly Red for a long time as the DAC for my computer audio system. I didn't question it until one day I decided to connect my 2011(?) Peachtree DAC-IT and found the presentation much more engaging, dynamic and extended. Then I tried my other DACs and the same thing happened. The DFR is now in a drawer somewhere.
The iFi is on my main system where it presents with a wide, deep soundstage and excellent dynamics. Voices are more present and in-the-room on the best recordings, and just more natural overall.
The difference between the two is that the Signature has better quality components than the non-Signature (resistors, capacitors, etc.).
By the way, you can buy it on Amazon for the same price, free shipping, and easy return if you don't like it.
jnorrislol good call, maybe I should give it a chance. A long time ago someone told me it has recessed vocal so I never bothered looked into it but now I'm intrigued again. Thanks for the explanation!
So its 50 more bucks to get 32 bit and you don’t get the iPower X supply? I suppose its future proofing but 32bit source is so rare. And is it even necessary? I understand the value in recording but in playback I can’t imagine the difference is discernible. Also can’t help but wonder what the price would be without MQA, can’t wait to see DAC makers ditch it.

Urgh, is it iFi's entire thing to make a V2 of every single device? Zen DAC V2, Hip DAC V2, ...
