I got two of these. Hard to light your cigarette. Ash gets on the coils. Gets dirty fast. Not a fan. Coil is fragile.

@smallbit I can't speak to the longevity as I've only had it for about a month, BUT it hasn't broken on me yet and seems like it will hold up well to normal use.

I have been using my Elite for a few weeks since the last drop, and agree, for the cost, this is a novelty item, and I like it for that. It does not have a clip or ring, is pocket carry. I typically charge it once a day, although it will last up to two, and I am a fairly heavy smoker, up to about 50 lights .. but that all depends on how long you leave it on to light. If it runs low, seems to have an auto disable to prevent the battery from over discharging. On occasion the switch is fickle and will not engage until you fuss with it.
I don't see this working at all with rope or cigars. In fact, I have learned that if you 'tap' the tobacco down into the tube and there is a stand-off of paper it does not light well. I have gotten into the habit of using the back of the lighter to tap the top of the cigarette to flatten the top. The ignitable source must be right onto the element. Sure the element chamber gets a little goopy with extra stuff, but it is burned, dry, and blows out easily. Try only slightly opening the chamber (so it does not light) and using some canned air.
On the plus side, while driving with window full down, I can light a smoke with one hand. Can't do that with a Bic (butane lighter).

So if you're one of us who always packs your cigarettes down, it isn't going to work? disappointing... I don't smoke cigarettes often these days, but this sounded like it could be a useful EDC tool. Sadly, your one plus doesn't apply to me either, since I developed a habit while at uni of scootering, smoking, and texting simultaneously and got good lighting one-handed. Was really hoping to find good reviews here in the discussion, but these seem to be quite gimmicky. The placement of the heating element is another slight let-down because I've taken to pipe smoking and this is pretty obviously not going to work for that. Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Perhaps it's just me, but these are effectively worthless. They barely light cigarettes (I don't smoke, but have had others try it). When the user presses their smoke against the coil, it risks damage and usually some oily by-product is left on and around the heating element. This will go into long term storage, never yo be used I'm afraid. A waste of a purchase.

Wondering if these would work with paracord? Would be cool to use this instead of a regular lighter for paracord ends.

Probably not. It looks like you need to touch the coils, which would probably gum it up pretty quick. Neat idea for a lighter, just not for paracord.

Too bad - I was interested until I read more about them - 25% of the folks reviewing the lighter/s basically said they were junk.... :-(

That is awesome! Some of these reviews have me spooked about longevity of the product. Can you put those concerns to rest? Would you advise a particular model like the all aluminum sexy looking one perhaps?

Mine broke in three days. The spring for the slide stopped working after days two, then couldn't even light a single cigarette by day three. Tossed it on day four. Hugely disappointed.

I bought an Elite one of these at retail to have as an EDC fire starter. I dont smoke, but Ive offered it to people to light up with and you have to basically touch the cigarette to the filament to get it to light, no way near as hot as I expected. Also, it says to hold the power on for no more than 10 seconds, well, it took longer than that for my friend to get the entire end of his cigarette lit, doesnt have a very wide heat delivery either At a pinch, its probably ok, but also doesnt seem to hold a charge very well. Any time Ive gone to use it its flat again.

These are definitely not more environmentally friendly than alternatives if they'really just going to break after 3 charges, which is very apparent after reading the Amazon reviews...
