R1 was already superb, the Zenith improves on all levels (slightly) making it overall a better package. I have K10, UE11Pro, A&K Roxanne II, Westone W60, UmPro50, JVC HA-FW01, Aurisonics ASG 2.5, Harmony etc etc and these get the most smiles per track.

So your selling the extra pair you got for free and charging $350? People make sure to check for an out of phase sound if you buy these.

Hey everyone, thought I would throw my 2 cents in since I have had these since the begining of January (and it was my post talked about above haha). These things are truely wonderful, it gives you the power to alter the sound signature 10 different ways to truely give you a signature you will be happy with. For those who care and reference, I also own the 64 audio U12t's and Fiio FH5's for IEM's and have had heavy ear time with the Solaris, DM6, Fender 9, Sony....... Idk extra bass one. If you have questions ask me :) I've given the feedback that I wasn't a fan of the cable that it comes with because of the feel (rubbery) but it doesn't tangle and sonically is fine.

If one does not factor any of the price points, how would you rate [most to least favorite] your preference for all the sets that you've experienced so far [at least, among the ones you listed here]?

U12ts are great but I have to take price into consideration. I can't recommend them for some one who doesn't have a opportunity to demo them 2k is too steep. The zeneths are more of a catch all since it gives you so many ways to modify the sound signature. Fh5s are good for the gym. Solaris sound really good but fit is very awkward. Dm6 I can't give much of an opinion on they have some serious quality control issues and I was not a fan of the signature my pair had... Were really peaky

I used PayPal knowing they were high but didn’t want to take time comparing rates so I told myself the extra protection was worth it. But PayPal does rip folks on exchange rates! Hope we enjoy our Zeniths!

These were available as B-stock pretty recently for as low as $260. Disregarding the whole “I refuse to support someone who was behind Trinity” spiel, which is fair but isn’t particularly relevant for anyone interested in IMR products, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that these will be available for much cheaper than $500. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but definitely in the near future. After all, that’s more or less what happened with the R1.

Absolutely. Their latest model Z2 Aten is on sale on IMR website for just 350 GBP. That's about 470 USD with shipping. This $500 drop for Z1 Zenith doesn't make any sense.

Can anybody compare these or the original R1 to the Massdrop Plus? I love the customizability of this iem, but afraid it might just be a "sidegrade".

The usual place... =D jmills8 said:
Z5 was like 500usd and the z1r is 2000 usd? I demoed the 10000 and z1r and owned two z5s. 10000 > Z5 > Z1r.

I redemoed the z1r, U18 , Hifiman 2000 , Solaris, and a few Fitear iems and hands down the jvc sounded the best. Seperation, details, dynamics, tone, depth, sound stage goes to the jvc 10000.
I'm with you on both these counts pal. Have lived with my FW10K for a couple of weeks now, during which my U18+dream duet combo found no air time. Demoed the Solaris in between and can't imagine any reason to get it. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/victor-ha-fw10000-10th-anniversary-model.891366/page-8

Well, if you read a bit more carefully, you would find that I mentioned CUSTOM A18. Many people said that u18 actually sounds not nearly as good as a custom solution. Apparently, 64audio couldn't reach the same level of repeatability as Unique Melody did with their Mason. Maybe it would be a good idea to reshell your u18 into a custom IEM as it was intended from the beginning?

For those commenting on the fact this looks like the Acoustune does of IEMs: yes, the design is VERY similar, but there is one key difference: the screw assembly on the Zenith is actually functional. You use the screw on the housing to open or close the vent port behind the DD, changing it from fully closed to semi-open, which affects the tuning and stage. As far as I know, the Acoustune design is purely cosmetic? As others have mentioned, this is an upgrade on the R1 in terms of sound for me. Had then a few weeks now and think they are s very good sounding IEM for the price.

I had the R1, and I have the Zenith now. I was super happy with the R1, from all points of view, and I can say that the Zenith is an improvement over the R1, albeit not a huge one as the R1 sounded so good already. I never tried the Acoustune so I can't really tell how good or how bad the Zenith is compared to that one, but I'm sure these guys thrashing the R1/Zenith vs. the Acoustune must have had an extensive listening experience with both, otherwise they would really look stupid.

Is copying the appearance of an existing, unique and well renowned product not severe enough? Who cares how this copy’s sonic features fair, it’s plagiary origin already shows what a low life it’s maker is.

Wow this shitty brand start to copy others. http://acoustune.com/ What a shame that western countries enjoy blaming China for intellectual property issues, while people from these countries are doing the same. There are even someone praising it below the discussion. Thumb up for you guys.

Zenith is an upgrade over the OG R1. It's not my favorite IEM, but it has a lot to like. It's particularly good for people who like to tinker with EQ and don't mind changing nozzles to get the right signature. Also good for those who want to experiment with sound signatures. Doesn't do anything poorly, and can be enjoyed with just about any genre. The port on the back is improved and now it is clear whether it is open or closed. However, it isn't perfect. Those familiar with the R1 might struggle finding the right filter, and the Zenith isn't the most technically proficient. The recessed 2-pin sockets aren't compatible with every aftermarket cable. The improved port is a little off-putting visually, but that's not going to be true for every person. For $499, the Zenith is a fair value at best if one looks at the item alone. Bob from IMR has done an incredible job with customer service and is typically responsive and tries to solve the issues. If he supports the warranty on these, then the Zenith is a much better value.
