The Filo from In2uit represents the meeting of elegance and experimentation. The technology in these speakers was developed by the Industrial Technology Research Institute in Taiwan, and signifies a major breakthrough in electrostatic speaker technology. In2uit implemented these new concepts into the Filo, thereby creating one of the highest functioning art objects seen today. Portable, powerful, and entirely unique, the world’s first compact ElectroStatic speaker instantly amps up your bedroom or backyard gathering.
The most distinctive features are the speakers themselves, made from patented Electrostatz panels that measure only 0.06 in thick. Deceptively thin, they pack dual T10 Electrostatz drivers that surround a flat diaphragm. When the audio signal comes through the drivers, they create a uniform electrostatic field proportional to the signal and exert force on the diaphragm. The diaphragm in turn projects the audio we hear. When coupled with a 2 in neodymium driver for added bass, the result is clear, detailed, and powerful sound. The Filo definitely caught eye in several competitions recently, since it has won the prestigious 2012 IDEA Industrial Design Award and the 2013 CES Innovations Award.
The Filo operates on a single Ly-polymer battery that last for 10 hours of operation and can be easily recharged with the included adapter. No audio jack necessary (though there is an AUX port!), you can connect to the speakers wirelessly using the installed Bluetooth apt-X codec from CSR. Performance aside, the Filo earns its place in your home on looks alone, the bold color options lending a unique accent to any room. With the built-in stand and included wall mount, the In2uit Flio Speakers can be easily placed on any flat surface or wall. On this drop, you have your choice between Vogue Red, Mod Blue, or Urban Gray.
