I would never buy a tent that did not have a fully detachable fly because I would want to store a wet fly separately from a (hopefully) dry tent. Of course in damp climates this tent body would likely have some condensation along the walls anyway since the walls are presumabley coated. IMHO, this would be a nice dry weather tent, but unsuited to rainy climates like the Pacific NW where I live.

Yeah if you are in long term rain almost everything is going to get damp eventually. I think single wall tents are just not a great option in truly wet conditions. Detachable flies also allow one to drape the fly out on bushes or rock slabs to dry in the sun if there is any. On most nights where I live, even in the summer with no rain, there is going to be condensation on the underside of the fly. That never happened in years of hiking in the Sierras. Also, flies that have built in peak vents are vastly superior to those that do not have them as far as condensation goes in my experience.

EndoverendAgree the top fly only seems to clear the netting by a few measly inches. On a vertical position like this, I can’t imagine where one would drown in blowing rain.

Agreed. But I wonder about the 2 person rating- I find most tents to be fairly small/confining. Looks like about 22" per person and you're against the wall at that dimension. Better be close with that person because you will be anyway. It would be a roomy 1 person but that takes it out of the realm of lightweight then.

This says two person, but what if one of them is 6'5"? The length is listed at 84", but is that the TOTAL length with fly/porch thing or the interior area length?

I'm curious, does anyone know how they get the pack weight down to the 3# 10oz??? I mean the stakes can't weight that much, right? As I watched the video I didn't see any way there was an option to Not carry everything. Sure you can ultalite w/ aftermarket stakes, but I don't see the stakes as being 3/4# of weight. Also, I'm wondering what happened when that little clip at the top doesn't perform. It isn't like one could just use some floss or a small nite ize reusable cable tie to correct that if it failed in the field, not my my eyes anyway, anyone have any other input on this? I love the price, but, I'm leery.

VaderI'm kicking my self because this tent just arrived two days ago from Amazon for alittle bit more than the cost here.
I can't answer the second question, the rain has kept me from doing a test of the tent, good companies would stand by there product and replace broken bits usually.
But the stakes are about as heavy as the poles remarkably. They seem to be anodized aluminum, I don't have a scale to weigh it all, but you would easily cut a third of the weight, it is free standing. I live in a place where wind can get up to 80km/h so I wouldn't dare try. All three components that make up the tent are already pretty light though.

Is there anyway to buy just the footprint? I bought this a few days ago from another site and the footprint is now difficult to find at any reputable site

Hey man seriously I really wouldn't bother buying the footprint. Buy either a sheet of Polycro or a sheet of Tyvek/Tyvek 1443R if possible, either will work and just cut it to size. I promise you it's more waterproof, LIGHTER and cheaper. You can find either one on Amazon or Ebay. You can make a small ground sheet to carry around to set your things on to keep them clean with the leftover. Hope this helps.

I’ve had this tent for a little over a year, taken it on a few backpacking trips and I really like it. It’s definitely closer to a 1.5 person tent, so if your planning on sharing it with someone know it will be an intimate experience. For me, it’s the perfect size for me and my dog. It’s really quick to set up, and I like that there’s so much room to pack it up in the bag. For me a couple ounces of weight is totally worth not having to wrestle to put it away in the middle of the woods.
