JoshuaThat's not strictly true, unless they've changed the Portapro drivers since I last tried a pair. I've owned both, and the KSC75 has a silvery coating on the driver, while the Portapros do not. On Amazon, the KSC75 is listed as having "Titanium-coated drivers deliver accurate sound reproduction with little distortion"; the Portapro is not. In my experience, this translates to KSC75 having less bass than the Portapros. There are probably other differences, but that's the only one I remember (my Portapros broke almost a year ago).
@C_Casper What you can do is buy a pair of KSC75, and if you don't like them, swap the ear clips from them to the blue driver units of the Portapro. They should mount the same way, iirc.
TomZHey, if your portapros are broken, send them in and get new ones. I've done it. I bought my portapros 13 years ago and did that after the plastic connecting the steel bands broke. Just a small handling fee and I got new ones returned. I still use them on a regular basis with a tablet for viewing tv shows and movies.
WilliamSThanks, but I already did that once. This time around, I decided to upgrade to other headphones, because I didn't really want to pay the fee, I didn't want to stick with headphones that had broken twice already (although I'm rethinking that choice now), I wanted single entry, and I wanted a microphone. So I took them apart and tried my hand at re-cabling them, only to find out that the entire driver housing was cracked. Now I can only find one driver, so I'm not sure they'll approve my warranty request :)
But had I wanted to stick with them, the warranty might have been the way to go! I ended up putting my KSC75 units onto the Portapro headband.
C_CasperHD 668B, I'm not sure how they compare in sound but I really enjoy my pair and if you're in the US they come around this price range. Warning though they have a lot of treble.
